Yes Frank, Sun is slower than Venus and Mercury.

Hence the order begining from the slowest is:

Shani, Guru, Mangal, Aditya, Shukra, Buddha and Chandra.

[sJC: Varahamihira] Re: Varahamihira] Speed of Planets ::> Doubt is still present

Namaste,Thanks for the note, yet the speed of the sun is still in question.I will assume that we use the time the Sun takes to transit 1 sign.If so this still makes it slower then Mercury and Venus,Yet it is postioned Sani,Jupiter, Mars, SUN, Venus, Mercury, Moon. The logic is still eluding my common sense...any help here is appreciated.Pranams,Frankvarahamihira , "Visti Larsen" <vishnu@l...> wrote:> Hare Rama Krishna> > --> > Dear Frank,> Your signature is missing in the end of the document.> Being Jyotishas of this earth, we are more concerned with the speed of planets revolution around Gaya, the Earth, not the Sun.> Best wishes> Visti> ---> Bhagavad Purana: http://www.srimadbhagavatam.org> Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra: vedic astrologybphs.zip> iTRANS 99 Font: http://www.omkarananda-ashram.org/Sanskrit/Itranslt.html> - > fls999999999 <frank_in_sandiego@c...> > varahamihira > Monday, January 06, 2003 2:27 AM> [sJC: Varahamihira] Speed of Planets and their use to order them> > > Om Sri Rama Jai Jai Rama,> > Namaste,> re: speed of planets and thier order.> I see Saturn ( slowest) to Moon ( fastest) as the order, but> do not undersand how Sun is is positioned 4th ( either slowest or > fastest).> When we measure fast or slow, it's the time taken for a graha to > make one complete revolution ( 360 degree) around a body.> Sani takes 29.5 years around the sun, yet we measure Chandra taking > 27.3 days to complete a cycle aound the earth.
