We can get the answer to these questions if you look at the meaning of a Tithi. It is basically the movement of 12 degrees of the Moon against 1 degree movement of the Sun. In other words, the Moon's position can be mapped to the 12 signs of the zodiac as according to its daily movement, while the Sun moves by degree through the 12 signs in one year. If a certain percentage of Tithi is expired, multiply that percentage by 12, and add the result to 0 Aries. So in your case, 2.55 = 16:30 Gemini, which falls in your 8th house. Think of the Jyotir-Linga as representing the consciousness of the parents at the time of conception. The consciousness, whatever it may have been, is intimately linked to the awareness of the native (you), and will also have some bearing on the types of karmas confronted in life. Examine the sign in the rasi chart, as well as various divisions (varga charts) where that degree of Gemini may be found. The above is my understanding, although there may be other interpretations.
