Guest guest
Dear Visti, Hare Rama Krsna! >Fact is that the natural gestation period is synchronous with the Lunar >Return (not lunar month). The Lunar return lasts ~27,3 days (hence the >reason for 27+ nakshatras) and 10 of such returns (273) constitutes the >natural gestation period of a human being. >The difference in degrees (expunging signs) between Shani and Gulika will >reveal the needed correction to the natural gestation period. This needs >to be added or subtracted depending on whether Lagna lord (in natal) is >in Drusya or Adrusya Rasi's respectively. However I may try, this doesn't work out in the example I have given. The difference in degrees between Shani and Gulika is 5°06'. Since the lord of lagna is still in the drisya half of the zodiac, we would have to subtract this from 273. Even if we add it, it doesn't come up to the actual period of pregnancy. Note that the duration of pregnancy is 281.8 days here. The edition of BPHS by Santhanam is giving a different method. As far as I understand, the pregnancy is calculated there by the longitude from the cusp of the ascendant to the cusp of 9th house, 10th or 11th according to the adhana lagna being in a movable, fixed or dual sign respectively, added by the difference between Shani and Gulik, and in case lagna lord is in the invisible half the degrees of the Moon should also be added. Anyway, that also doesn't seem to be correct in this example. What position do you use for Gulik? Beginning, middle or end of Saturn's portion?
