Rao vedic astrology ; ; varahamihira ; vyasa ; jyotish-class Monday, April 28, 2003 12:02 PM |Sri Varaha| Free software JHoraLite 5.0 released! Namaste friends, The latest version of the free software "Jagannatha Hora Lite" (version 5.0) can be downloaded from http://www.VedicAstrologer.org/jhl5 now. Another link http://www.SriJagannath.org/jhl5/index.htm will work soon. If it does not work, try the former link. This version offers a much better GUI (you can see a screenshot at the above address), more stable behavior and more accurate calculations than the previous public release JHoraLite 3.1. It contains some new calculations such as Sree lagna, vighati lagna, Narayana dasa (of rasi chart), Shoola dasa (of lagna), Jagannatha hora chart (taking the number of hora chart options to three), lunar new year chart (amanta calendar), annual Full Moon chart (suklanta calendar), swearing-in chart mode where dasas are compressed to the period of time specified by the user (e.g. 4 years or 3 months) and daily panchanga including the end times of tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana and 24 horas and the times of Rahu kaalam, Gulika kaalam, Yama gandam, sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset. It has a slightly bigger atlas too. If you are a user of JHoraLite 3.1, I strongly recommend upgrading to this version. There are two versions of JHoraLite 5.0 available for downloading. One is 1.7 MB in size and has minimal online help. The other is 2.4 MB in size and has detailed online help, including several Vedic astrology lessons extracted from my textbook "Vedic Astrology: An Integrated Approach". But the functionality is the same in both and the size of online help is the only difference. The features disabled in this Lite version will be available in the commercial version (Jagannatha Hora 5.0) that will be released in the forenoon of May 8, 2003. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha PS: Both the zip files have been tested. If you have errors in unzipping, your download was erroneous. The only way to fix it is to keep trying. If you have download problems, try downloading the smaller version with minimal help. |Om Tat Sat|http://www.varahamihira
