Tricky: How to exactly judge planetary strength?

For a beginner, steps to analyze a query are:

1. Which house does the query affect?

2. Who is the lord of the house? Where/how is he placed?

3. Who is natural karaka for the house? Where/how is he placed?

4. Which are the planets in the house?

5. If planet is functional benefic it gives positive results, else it

gives negative results in its vimsottari dasa and that depends on the

strength of placement of planet.

Naturally, One question that occurs to every person is how to tell how

strong a planet is?

A planet can be considered to be strong if is in:

own sign, exalted, Moolatrikona sign, aspected by friend, if

associated with functional friend

A planet can be considered to be weak if it is in:

enemy house, debilitated, aspected by enemy, associated with

functional enemy

How to get exactly the strength since strength depends on so many factors?

a chart can have interesting combinations:

Say mars is yogakaraka, functional benefic, exalted in 7th house which

contribute to his strength and

say the 7th house happens to be lorded by saturn: who is enemy of mars

and mars is associated with mercury (functional malefic for the chart)

and ketu (natural malefic): all of which contribute to his weakness

In this case, how would you apply the basic principles....

Note this is tricky because there are points contributing to his

overall strength and weakness. Now if you want to say if mars will

give good result in his dasa/antardasa as per Vimsottari - how would

you go about this?
