AATHREYA - MOTHER EARTH

 

 

 

BHOO – Bhoomi aka Bhoo Maatha - Vyaahruthi

 

Epitome of Patience ( Sahanam ).

 

 

 

DharaNi aka Dhaathri – One who supports nearly 7 billion people

 

plus so many living beings ( Jangamas and Stthaavaras like Trees )

 

and others like Mountains etc.

 

 

 

When HiraNya Kashipa confiscated the Earth , Lord Vishnu as Yajna Varaaha

 

Rescued Mother Earth and hence SHE became Sri Bhoo Devi.

 

 

 

When Ikshvaaku King Pritthu extracted all utilities from Mothe Earth , SHE

 

came to be known as Prutthvi.

 

 

 

Mother Earth gives us all food , water , shelter and clothing , our primary

needs

 

and keeps us close to HER with HER gravitational force. We are all

astronauts / cosmonauts on Mother Earth Space Ship. SHE keeps spinning

around HERSELF

 

Giving us days to work and nights to take rest . SHE orbits The Sun giving

us

 

Seasons to relieve the monotony . Hence SHE is The Greatest Mother.

 

 

 

Lord Parashu Raam rescued HER from despots etc and gave HER away to

 

Sage Kashyap who in turn distributed HER among the surviving righteous

rulers .

 

Hence SHE is called Kaashyapi. Om Bhoo Vyaahruthyai Namaha Om.

 

 

 

That brings me to Names. And their etymology.

 

1. After father – Daasaratthi , son of Dasarattha – Sree Raama.

2. After Mother – Sowmithri , son of Sumithra , Lakshman

3. After Husband – when sisters and daughters get married .

4. Family Name – nee = born into.

5. Given Name .

6. A Pen Name , an alias .

7. After a Star – Aswini , BharaNi , Aaarudra etc.

8. After a Maasam – SraavaNi

9. After a Samvatsaram – Aaanand , Vijaya etc

10. After a Ruthuvu – Sharad , Hemanth , Sishir etc.

11. After Rushi – Doorvaasa Aathreya , Datthaathreya , AATHREYA etc.

12. One can call oneself a Kaashyap , a Gowtham , a Bharadwaaj , a
