An explosion has killed 10 people - including several children - at a

Moscow market, Russian officials say.

At least 16 other people were injured in the blast at 1030 (0630GMT) at the

eastern Cherkizovsky market. It brought down a two-storey building.

There are conflicting reports about the cause of the explosion.

First reports said a gas cylinder was probably to blame, but

later officials said it may have been a home-made explosive device.

A spokeswoman for Russia's emergency

situations ministry, Yulia Sadnikova, said preliminary information suggested

the blast was caused by an explosive device, the Associated Press news agency

reported.

However, earlier reports in Russian media said a faulty gas

cylinder may have caused the blast.

Such cylinders are widely used at Moscow's markets for
