Washington state braces for major flooding

SEATTLE, Washington (AP) -- A windy Pacific storm dumped heavy rain Monday

on western Washington, raising the threat of some of the worst flooding in

years and prompting the evacuation of hundreds of hunters from the woods.

 

A 20-year-old elk hunter from Seattle was missing after his pickup truck

was swept into the Cowlitz River south of Mount Rainier, authorities said.

 

And a half-dozen homes were being evacuated along the rising Stillaguamish

River about 36 miles north of Seattle.

 

The warm-weather rainstorms, propelled by air currents from Hawaii in a

pattern called the Pineapple Express, will probably cause some of the

worst flooding in western Washington in years, said Bradley Colman of the

National Weather Service.

 

As of midmorning Monday, more than 41/2 inches of rain had fallen in

Seattle since Thursday. The forecast called for 6 to 10 inches in the

Cascades and about 3 inches in the Seattle area in the 24 hours ending

Monday night.

 

The Army Corps of Engineers began sandbagging several rivers.

 

At least 200 hunters were evacuated from about 65 hunting camps near the

Cowlitz River.

 

The Hood Canal floating bridge was closed for four hours overnight as

winds gusted to more than 40 mph. Mudslides and rockslides Sunday and

early Monday closed some highways.

Dear Jorge. The flooding is even more so pronounced in the lower

British Columbia mainland, with record rainfalls and floowing

occuring. Perhaps you could check if this is indicated in the British

I hope you don't mind me stepping in here. I'm looking at Canada's

chart as rectified by Jorge. It is in a Ra/Ra period. Rahu is excess

and is transiting Pisces, a water sign. It has been afflicting

transiting Jupiter, 4L, significator of natural resources

 

BTW, I've been visiting your beautiful country these past few days

on business (in Alberta). Hope to come back again soon...
