Guest guest
Dear list members, When I have the time, I look at significant drops in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) to see if transit strains explain them. I select drops and then study the transits - and not the other way around! From late June 1981 to third week of September 1981, the DJIA dropped in value by one fifth, which is a large drop in the history of the index, although not unique. Let me just add a salient observation: the DJIA has risen consistently from 1928 to the present day, but in between there have been setbacks, that have eventually been recovered. Most of them have taken only a few months to recover, but some periods have been marked by volatility and stagnation, possibly due to a sub-period of a functional malefic planet being operating, adding to the woes.. Event: Share prices (DJIA) drops by 20% from late June to late September 1981. Me/Ma period was running. During most of this time, a stationary transit Rahu at 9°-8° Cancer H1 was aspecting natal L10 Mars at 10° Scorpio H5 and transit L6 Jupiter at 4° 25' Scorpio H5. Transit L8 Saturn at 9° Virgo H3 also aspected natal L10 Mars. Transit Ketu in Capricorn H7 was conjunct L3 Mercury aspecting L1 Moon at 7° 26' Taurus H11. L6 Jupiter was conjunct transit L8 Saturn at 9°-17° Virgo H3 during this time, but they had seperated by late September, when also the nodes have moved off their stationary position. Still the shares did not go into immediate recovery. In late September 1981, the Me/Ra period began, with the natal nodes afflicting the even numbered houses. The share prices did not fall much further, but they also did not recover until one year later. L6 Jupiter became transit stationary conjunct the nodal axis in 1982. This was followed by Saturn aspecting L8 Saturn from H3 and then becomming conjunct H3. Finally, the nodes went through H12 and H6 MEP becoming stationary while aspecting the natal nodes. Only after these contacts seperated did the share prices rise in late 1982. The aboves shows that also for this event and what followed, the transit situation was quite challenging, causing a lot of strain in the financial market. Again, the SAMVA USA chart conforms to what is exepected of an authentic chart. Best regards, C Cosmologer <cosmologer wrote: Dear list members, I decided to look at the 25% drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) from mid May 2002 to third week of July 2002. This drop in the index was exceptionally large - shaving a quarter of the countries wealth in equities in the span of only nine weeks. Event: Stock prices in the USA (DJIA) decline by 25% from May 16 to July 23 2002. What likely explains this drop was the ongoing uncertainty about the future course of the War on Terror. The situation was likely making investors worried. Stocks were also generally under a cloud after experiencing a secular decline in early 2000 and then the "9/11" attacks in 2001 further added to the concerns. Still, stock prices held up fairly well in late 2001 and into early 2002. However, by mid May they suddenly entered into a steep decline, which shaved a quarter of the wealth of the stock market in a 9 week period - one of the deepest such declines in the countries history. Ve/Ma period was running. Transit Rahu at 24° 01' in Taurus H11 was closely aspecting L2 Sun at 23° 45' in Capricorn H7 and opposite L8 Saturn at 26° 46' Scorpio H5. Transit nodes closely afflict all odd numbered houses. Transit L8 Saturn is conjunct H11 MEP and aspects H1, H5 and H8. Transit L6 Jupiter at 19° 45' Gemini H12 is closely aspected by natal Ketu at 17° 47' in Libra H4. Transit L10 Mars at 28° 21' Taurus is closely aspected by natal L8 Saturn in H5. Transit L4 Venus in infancy and transit L1 Moon in H12 conjunct transit L6 Jupiter. During the summer of 2002, transit nodes remained stationary at 24° on the odd house MEPs and transit Saturn moved through a opposition aspect with its own natal placement. As the aboves shows, the transit situation was exceptionally bad, causing a lot of strain in the financial market. The SAMVA USA chart is performing very well, indeed. Best regards, C Tired of spam? Guest guest
Dear Cosmologer, Looking to the 1776 USA chart: The operational dasha was Me/Ju/Mo, till July 7, 1981: Mercury (business), L11 (income), was badly placed, and afflicted by natal Mars, transit Venus and transit nodes. Jupiter (treasury), L2 (gains), was afflicted by transit Ketu, and then natal Ketu. Natal Moon (affluence), L9 (luck), was afflicted by transit nodes, transit Venus, and on June 30, it was also badly placed. Transit Sun was badly placed. Transit Mars was over natal Mars. From July 7, 1981, till August 24, 1981, the operational dasha was Me/Ju/Ma: Natal Mercury was afflicted by transit nodes. Transit Mercury was in H8 almost till the end of July, then came under the influence of transit nodes, and natal nodes. Transit Jupiter was under the influence of transit Ketu in the beginning and then under the influence of natal Ketu. Transit Mars was badly placed in H8. After August 24, 1981, the operational dasha was Me/Ju/Ra: Transit Rahu was afflicted by transit Mars. Things only got some relief after transit Jupiter came out of the 5 degree orb of influence of natal FM Ketu. I am trying to look at both charts when I am sending events to the list. Regarding the last one, concerning a serious cold storm, I forgot. Sorry… It seems that the 1776 chart also explains well the drops that you detected.  Best wishes, Jorge SAMVA [sAMVA ] On Behalf Of Cosmologer sexta-feira, 12 de Janeiro de 2007 20:17 samva SAMVA USA chart - stocks drop 20% in summer of 1981 and stay low until late 1982 Dear list members, When I have the time, I look at significant drops in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) to see if transit strains explain them. Guest guest
Dear Tom, Thanks for sharing this info. I am not an expert in this area, but I understood that “high yield†as something positive. May be I am wrong… Anyway, let us look to both charts: Transit Jupiter, L2, came out of the afflictions caused by transit Ketu and natal Ketu, and is closely conjunct with natal Saturn, L4. Four planets transit H11. There are no MEPs afflicted. Dasha seems to be Me/Ra/Ra. The final dispositor of Rahu is the Moon, which is combust and exactly conjunct transit Saturn, L8. Four planets transit H3. MEP3, MEP5, MEP7, MEP9, MEP11, and MEP12 are afflicted. Regarding the “high yieldâ€, which chart would fit better? Please clarify. Guest guest
Dear list members, Thank you dear Jorge for the side by side comparison of the tranist and period dynamics of the 1776 chart at the times discussed. During 1981, I recall the US was experiencing sluggish growth because the US central bank - the Federal Reserve (famously led by Paul Volcker) - had imposed unusually high interest rates to combat high inflation that built up during the 1970s, due to two oil crises, but perhaps also to the high cost of the Vietnam War. The high policy interest rates translated into high debt yields (long term interest rates), making it more costly to take loans and thus either invest or consume. The central bank did this to wring out inflationary pressures in the economy. It was perceived to be painful medecine for the economy and a stressful time in this respect. The fact that these yields reached a peak in late September 1981 likely explains why the stocks declined further for the whole year that followed. High yields are not seen to help corporate earnings in the short run, so they depress the price. However, by bringing down inflation, they improve the earnings in the longer term. So, it was definitely not positive from the latter point of view. High interest rates are strong medicine to cure the economy and as such intended for the future benefit. I explained the major transit events in the SAMVA USA chart which would have explained the ongoing and somewhat deepening stress for investors in also 1982 in terms of the transits in the SAMVA USA chart. After this time passed the US stock market began to rally, almost uninterrupted to mid October 1997 - confirming that the cure worked. Both the transit SAMVA USA charts and the Dow Jones Industrial Average stock charts may be consulted at SAMVA then click on SAMVA USA chart. Finally, thanks also to Tom for offering the important and interesting additional financial information. Best wishes, C SAMVA , " jorge angelino " <jorge.angelino wrote: > > Dear Tom, > > > > Thanks for sharing this info. > > > > I am not an expert in this area, but I understood that “high yield†as something positive. Guest guest
Dear Jorge & pardon me, Tom But Tom's point, on the contrary to being "positive", is a VERY NEGATIVE consideration, so therefore much in support of Jorge's analysis and its conclusions. The U.S. was on relatively very hard times in 1980-81. FED Chairman Paul Volker took over the position in August 1979 after his two predecessors, Blumenthal and Miller, presided over a national currency and interest rate condition equivalent in impact to a railroad's passanger train de-railment [but, comparatively, the event of October 1929 was much more severe, being roughly that of a massive train wreck with explosions]. The WHY of it all in the early 1980s was that the 1960s & early 70s was yet another era of U.S. government wars: internationally, in Vietnam, and domestically, in social welfare spending. Eventually, the debt financing piper had to be paid. By 1979 American price inflation rates were running past 15%, peaking in early 1980. Interest rates, and related yields on debt securities and the like, were still yet to peak. And so, see Tom's post on the heights reached by the end of September 1981. Volker applied very stiff medicine [monetarism] but the lagging negative data indicators carried on downwards into 1982's economic slowdown. The global lesson is that trends to lower natural long term interest rates denote GOOD-to-Society, similarly but in the other direction, the higher these rates move the more it denotes proportionately less GOOD-to-Society. [For the inquiring studet-scholar, the classic on this question of the necessary relationships between interest rate levels and society's progress, read Eugen von Bohm-Bawerk, a turn-of-the-19th-to-20th-century Austrian Minister of Finance and Professor at the University of Vienna. His monumental work CAPITAL & INTEREST explains all this and more, and as well completely explodes the scientific pretensions of Marxian economics. BRILLIANT. Available in the used book market, in English translation. However, I doubt there's a copy in the FED's Washington library.] Thanks for the earlier data post, Tom. Guest guest
Dear John, As I explained in my recent reply - which I just sent out and you may have missed - the medicine of the Volcker-led Fed was tough and conditions in the stock market did not improve for a whole year after the yields peaked. Actually the stock market continued to decline. This was a key point in my original analysis. Clearly, the developments described in this period are very consistent with the transit and period dynamics in the SAMVA USA chart. Guest guest
Dear Tom & List Members, After seeing the recent emails from John and Cosmologer (thanks John and Cosmologer!) and having a better understanding of what the HIGH YIELD means, I came back to this message and noticed that I have missed to point out the very delicate status of natal Mercury, exactly afflicted by transit Rahu/ketu axis and badly placed in transit. Mercury is the dispositor of the four planets in H11. From these four planets, three of them are the Sun, the Moon and Jupiter. Best wishes, Jorge jorge angelino [jorge.angelino] sábado, 13 de Janeiro de 2007 06:37 'SAMVA ' RE: SAMVA USA chart - stocks drop 20% in summer of 1981 and stay low until late 1982 Dear Tom, Thanks for sharing this info. Best wishes, Jorge SAMVA [sAMVA ] On Behalf Of tom sábado, 13 de Janeiro de 2007 04:20 SAMVA RE: SAMVA USA chart - stocks drop 20% in summer of 1981 and stay low until late 1982 Dear Jorge, 9/28/1981 has to date, been the high yield in long term US debt. (circa 15.41%). hope this helps.
