Dear list members, When the Democratically controlled House of the US Congress last night voted to oppose the war strategy of President Bush, the aspects in the SAMVA USA chart had just turned much more adverse. 1. At the root of the problem is the ever closer transit of L8 Saturn, which yesterday was at 27° 08' Cancer in H1. From there Saturn as eight lord of obstacles and endings is in an applying opposition to natal L2 Sun at 23° 45' in Capricorn and H7. The Sun represents the status of the US as well as the US Presidency and its present office holder, George W. Bush. This aspect clearly shows the increasing difficulty being faced by President Bush and which has been predicted based on this chart. The transit aspect is all the more difficult, as natally Saturn at 26° 45' Scorpio afflicts the natal Sun. The US Presidency is a powerful office which has

been beset by tragedies, such as assasinations or removal from office of powerful but controversial leaders. 2. Yesterday, as I mentioned in my message then, transit Jupiter at 22° 30' Scorpio in H5 is now within 5° orb of its aspect to Saturn at 27° 08' Cancer. Hence, the energy of resistance is feeding into the already malefic energy of Saturn in this chart, as lord of obstacles and endings. As sixth lord, Jupiter represents the political opposition in the country. 3. Transit Jupiter is also conjunct natal Saturn at 26° 46' Scoprio, hence problems will also be felt by the political opposition. They will come under immense heat from the US Administration. Jupiter is also afflicting H5, which is disturbing the emotions of the country. Last night many representatives rose to their feet to hold rousing oratory against the Presidents war policy. 4. Transit L2 Sun is now at

4° Aquarius in H8 along with L1 Moon which arrived there yesterday evening. Moreover, L3 Mercury is there at 15° under the close aspect of natal Ketu at 18° in Libra and H4. Hence, these indications are now feeling the energy of obstacles and endings. 5. But that is not all. Transit Ketu at 22° Leo is aspecting L4 Venus in H6, disturbing the communal harmony. Meanwhile it and transit Rahu are afflicting all the even numbered houses. This is further disturbing the communal harmony. The political situation in the USA is therefore VERY difficult at the present time and can only be expected to become more difficult. Already the Senators are planning to hold a similar vote, although the outcome of that is perhaps less certain as the Republicans still hold a small majority there. Finally, the turn of events is further supporting this chart notably as these developments of

increasing political conflict in the country and difficulty for the President have been predicted. Best wishes, Thor Vote signals hard times ahead for Bush By Andy Gallacher BBC News, Washington The war in Iraq is proving unpopular with more AmericansOver days of heated debate more than 300 members of the House of Representatives rose to their feet and talked about President George W Bush's plans for Iraq. After hearing emotional argument and counter argument, the Democratically-controlled lower house voted in favour of a non-binding resolution, rejecting the president's tactics in Iraq but supporting the thousands of US troops currently serving. The White House immediately dismissed the resolution - it is after all non-binding - and warned Democrats against cutting off funding for the war. But nevertheless, this is a powerfully symbolic vote. More than a dozen Republicans sided with the Democrats in a

convincing 246 to 182 votes. Political suicide? House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made her feelings clear: "The passage of this legislation will signal a change in direction in Iraq that will end the fighting and bring our troops home safely and soon," she said. For many in the United States, the non-binding resolution gives a voice to US voters who see the situation in Iraq as hopeless and a waste of American lives.

The resolution shows a new direction, one in which we will focus on other than military objectives Democrat Nancy PelosiHouse Speaker Debate in quotes Text of resolution But the Democratically-controlled Congress will not have an easy time with what is an unpopular war and an unpopular president. Withdrawing funds for US troops on the ground could be political suicide, even though House Speaker Pelosi has talked of the president no longer having access to a "blank cheque". But Mr Bush now faces the very real possibility of both houses in Congress turning against his latest tactics in Iraq. The Senate is due to meet in a rare session on Saturday to decide their next move on the Iraq debate. Progress amongst senators has been slow but many could now be emboldened by the House of Representatives' strong showing. Non-military direction Opponents of the resolution said that it would leave Iraq vulnerable to "radical Islamic terrorists", such as in neighbouring Iran. But for the Democrats and some Republicans it is time for a big change in America's approach to the situation in Iraq. Ms Pelosi said that the Democrats' plan would make for a safer America. "The resolution shows a new direction, one in

which we will focus on other than military objectives," she said. "Certainly, our military preformed excellently, but the six points that I put forth to the president over and over again about changing the mission, redeploying the troops, building diplomacy in the region, pushing for political reconciliation, reforming reconstruction, and redirecting the war on terror in a way that is real and that the war in Iraq detracts from our efforts to do." For President Bush all this signals even harder times ahead. The planned troop surge in Iraq, mostly concentrated around the capital, Baghdad, is almost certainly this administration's last great hope.
