1 OCTOBER 1949 @ 15:15 HRS [AWST -8:00 = GMT +8:00], TIANANMEN SQUARE, PEKING [bEIJING], CHINA. [Lagna: 12.Capricorn.48, unrectified] On 1 October 1949, Mao Zedong proclaimed the founding of the People's Republic of China [PRC]. Perhaps the most significant revolution of the 20th century had reached a decisive moment. With the seizure of nationwide power virtually completed, the establishment of China’s new revolutionary nation-State was declared. At the culminating moments of the proclamation ceremony Chairman Mao Zedong raised the nation-State’s new flag over Tiananmen Square. At 3:15 (local time) in the afternoon [according to a CBS radio broadcast], with 300,000 people watching, Mao pressed the button on the flag pole, and the red flag with its five stars ascended over Beijing for the first time. The People's Republic of China was born. Mao first foreign policy act was to ask all foreign troops, including the Soviets, to leave

China immediately. Sections of the former KMT regime joined the new government. Song Qingling, the widow of the KMT’s founder Sun Yat-sen, stood alongside Mao in Tiananmen Square during the ceremonies as he declared the establishment of the PRC. A dozen “bourgeois” political parties that were opposed to Chiang’s dictatorship accepted the patronage of the Communist Party of China [CCP], the PRC’s communist party, including the so-called “Left KMT”. They formed the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference

[CPPCC], which later drafted the constitution for the PRC, the nation-State. During the Tiananmen Square ceremonies it was later reported that Mao uttered a phrase that did not enter the official record, and has been seldom if ever quoted today. Leaning over the balcony before the formalities began, Mao surveyed the vast crowd, waved and shouted out to them the simple words ‘Long live the Chinese people!’ He did so, he told someone later that evening, because ‘it was the only way I could do justice to them’. At the ceremony marking the birth of the People's Republic of China on 1 October 1949, the communist national flag and national made their first appearance, as the communist national anthem was sung for the first time. Before the ceremony, a committee was set up to solicit designs for the flag and the emblem. Almost 3000 different designs for the flag and about one thousand for the emblem were submitted. In the end, the committee selected the flag design created by

Zeng Liang-song who wasn't even an artist by trade. He was actually the secretary of the Shanghai Modern Economics Agency. In Mr. Zeng's design, five gold stars rest in the upper left corner of the flag on a red background. The red color stands for the revolution while the gold color of the stars signifies the dawn of a new era over the land. The five stars grouped together symbolize the unity of the Chinese people under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party. The national emblem depicts Tiananmen Square, symbolizing the nation, in the center illuminated by five stars and encircled by ears of grain, and a cogwheel, symbolizing the peasantry and working class, respectively.

Dear John,

Were there any documents signed at this event giving recognition to his

leadership and beginning the new country by name? If so, is there any record

of the signing time?

(Thor, interesting is the Sc Asc that day, LO6 closely aspecting LO12, an

interesting combination with the other placements esp close Ra-LO6 aspect. I

don't know if this can give aggressive foreign and local policies with

moderate speed Mars).

Best regards,

Vyas Munidas
