Guest guest
Dear List, Below for your consideraion are the first steps in finding the natal chart for China. Your input, corrections and guidance are welcome. Best regards, Vyas Munidas China, Part I Historical background: The Chinese imperial system came to an end in 1911. The Quing dynasty was overthrown and China was proclaimed as a republic. It entered a period of warlordism until 1927 when the Kuomintang (KMT or Nationalist Party) established a central government. The rival Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was founded in 1921 and the country entered civil war in 1927. The Chinese Civil War lasted from April 1927 until May 1950 properly, between the KMT and the CCP. In 1949 the KMT were driven from China and retreated to Taiwan. Minor battles between supporters of the CCP and KMT continued until May 1950, but the war had been won the year before. In Beijing, on the 21 September, 1949 Mao Zedong, political leader of the CCP and ruler of the military forces, proclaims the People's Republic of China, a new name for the nation under a new leadership and bent of rule, at the First Plenary Session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. The leadership was clear. Chairman Mao Zedong's opening address can be read at this UCLA site: (http://www.isop.ucla.edu/eas/documents/mao490921.htm). Mao led the country until his death in 1976. The rest of September 1949 was spent in working out the details of the new government etc. and on October 1, 1949 there was a national ceremony and celebration. The day selected in this study for the birth of China is, 21 September, 1949. Key elements about China: Strong and aggressive policies (6H influences) Above average incidents of natural disasters (Ve, H4 issues) Manufacturing based economy Largest account surplus in the world, 180 Bln Largest resources for hydro power generation Largest population in the world Over one trillion USD in FX reserves (2H) Average person lives 72 years (around 1950 it was 32 years) (8H and Sa) Officially atheist (est 59%) (H9, Ju, tamasic influences of Sa and Ma) Average annual 9.4% GDP for the last 25 years (however, with such a large population, GDP/person is only 1/5th of the US) World's second largest R & D budget Secretive nation Astrological Considerations: A point that stands out from the list is that China is prone to natural disasters. It stands out because we can see the natal potential in a chart easily. This is a very good place to start when we consider that Venus is a critical component in weather. On the day, we find Venus in its MTH, Libra. The only two planets that form an association with Venus/Libra are Saturn (close aspect) and Mars (very close aspect). The strongest possibility in this consideration is that both planets, or one of them is a FM. If both were FB planets, the weather would not be as observed. I have consulted with Thor off the list to summarize what he knows about the weather; this will become important later on when cases are examined. He wrote, " Venus is the crucial planet to consider, as it rules comforts. We then consider the impact of hot (Mars, Sun) and cold (Saturn) planets on Venus. The impact of moist planets (Moon) would likely produce rain. The impact of Rahu and L8 produces storms. Ketu produces extremes in weather. " We are looking for ascendants where Saturn and or Mars are FM planets, and the 4H is weak or afflicted. Sa-Ve isn't exact, so the focus would be on ascendants where Mars is FM, if it comes to an either-or case. We take that and add the other elements if the traits of China (lifespan, money in cash, growth, etc.) and go from there. The ascendants that fit the FM requirement are Cn, Vi, Sc, Pi, and Ta. We can safely rule out Cn because it rises in the wee hours of the morning (2am). Pi and Ta rise in the evening onwards. John TWB has made a point about considering the later hours, so Pi and Ta are in the running as well. Probable Ascendant: John TWB suggested 2pm (Sg asc); it lacked the natal potential. The chart was moved back to 1pm and tried by a quick backtest of significant events - it matched well. The 28 degree also surfaced repeatedly in these significant events. After that, the Professor's opinion was sought on the natal potential of the chart. He replied, " This merits trial. The weakness of Jupiter and close affliction to Venus explains the poor status of people for quite long. Influence of Mercury on the house of income indicates success through commerce and trading. " To be presented next, are assessments of the natal potentials and examination of some significant events through all four remaining ascendants to narrow down the playing field. I will add that I have no attachment to any - the goal here is to find the right one. ~ Vyas Munidas ~
