EU - fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome

Dear friends,The EU is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding. The event took place on 25 March 1957, at 6:30 PM, in Rome, Italy. The chart has 12° 55' Virgo rising, with L1 Mercury is debilitated and combust at 16° 36' Pisces in H7, with 12L Sun at 11° 32' Pisces. Both L1 Mercury and L12 Sun natally aspect H1 and H7. Furthermore, L2 Venus is exalted and combust at 6° 28' Pisces. With these three planets in H7 the identity of the EU is strongly focused on international agreements and cooperation amongst countries. The weakness and affliction of L1 Mercury in H7 suggests that the EU has a weak sense of identity. Moreover, the affliction of L12 Sun suggests losses are important to explain the events. Sun and Jupiter are weakened by being debilitated in navamsa chart. With L2 Venus exalted in H7 under the aspect of L4 Jupiter at 2° 35' Virgo, there is some status for the union, linked also to the lands and heritage of the member states. However, this status

is a bit reduced by the influence of the Sun on L1 and H1, as well as H7. While the Sun gives the union a sense of government and influence, setbacks are associated with that influence, affecting negatively the identity and cooperation among the union states. In fact, the union is considered very strongly focused on rules and regulations that the Americans, for instance, find cumbersome and prone to reduce growth. The experience of the past decades has been that the US economic growth has been as a trend much greater than in the EU. L11 Moon is strongly placed at 9° 19' Capricorn in H5, influencing favourably H5 and H11. This suggests the income level of the union is high and that financial markets would benefit from that. The union has expanded from six to 28 states in these fifty years. Likely the aspect of exalted L2 Venus on L4 Jupiter helps in this regard. L8 Mars at 11° 39' Taurus in H9 is closely afflicting H9 of financial institutions, courts and religion, H12 of

foreign countries and losses, H3 of transportation, government communication and new enterprise and H4 of fixed assets and communal harmony, suggesting obstacles and endings for these indications. At the same time, the good placement of Mars would suggest easy gains for the Union. L6 Saturn at 21° 02' Scorpio in H3 suggests conflict related to 3rd house matters, such as transportation, communication, government communication, business enterprise, etc. Rahu at 27° 34' Libra in H2 suggests some manipulation concerning 2nd house matter. Ketu at same degree in Aries in H8 suggests some sudden problems for 8th house indications.The Ju/Ra period is operating until July 2008, when the Sa/Sa period commences. The Jupiter major period would not be strong, but could have seen significant expansion in the membership. Indeed, since July 1992, the membership expanded from 12 to the current 28 states. However, efforts to deepen the

integration with a common constitution have been subject to setbacks and is the unfulfilled agenda of the community. In the Saturn major period, the emphasis could be on conflict over 3rd house matters at the community level. The present transits and Rahu sub period would not be very helpful. Both natal and transit Saturn are afflicting the transit and natal Ketu at the present time, which suggests conflict has unexpected sudden outcomes that are not helpful.Finally, I could note that upuntil a few years ago I made some predictions against the chart and the results were promising. Due to time constraints I could not devote more time to it, however, this review suggests the chart is promising and could be studied further, also by making predictions against it.Best wishes,Thor
