Best wishes, Thor U.S. Economy: Spending Cools, Risking Further Economic Slowdown By Joe Richter April 30 (Bloomberg) -- Consumer spending in the U.S. rose less than forecast in March, raising doubts about the staying power of what Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke called the mainstay of economic growth. Purchases gained 0.3 percent from the prior month, less than half the 0.7 percent increase in incomes, the Commerce Department said today in Washington.
