Dear friends, A mining accident took place in Utah last week. Six miners are still trapped in the mine and feared dead. The accident took place when a transit conjunction of Saturn and Venus was applying in Leo H2 of the SAMVA USA chart. As the following list shows, there have been numerous mining disasters in the history of the USA involving large numbers of lives lost. Such events are worthy of study by astrologers in order to better understand the underlying factors and what sets them off. As such, astrology can better serve as a safety advisory. The astrological factors for mining disasters associated with loss of life are seen in the SAMVA USA chart where

- Saturn, the general indicator of mining, is the most malefic planet in the chart as lord of the 8th house of accidents and fatal accidents and is located in Scorpio and the fifth house, where it afflicts the Sun, which is 2nd lord in the chart, ruling families. - Venus becomes 4th lord in the chart and is thus the functional indicator of a nation’s natural resources and mines. It is placed in the sign of Sagittarius and 6th house which is associated with mishaps and accidents. - Ketu, a first rate malefic, is afflicting the 4th house of the SAMVA USA chart. Ketu is associated with natural calamities and violent actions and events, including explosions. Let us examine a couple of deadly mining accidents in terms of the chart. 1. The Monongah Mine disaster of Monongah, West Virginia took place on December 6, 1907 and has been described as "the worst mining disaster in American History". The explosion was thought to have been caused by the ignition of methane (also called "firedamp"), which ignited the coal dust in mines number 6 and 8. Rescue workers could only work in the mines for 15 minutes due to the lack of breathing equipment. Some of those workers also perished due to the poisonous gas.” 362 boys and men were reported killed, but some claim the number was far higher, including hundreds of immigrants. (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monongah_Mine_disaster) The Moon major period and Saturn sub-period were operating. The impact of Saturn would have been prominent at the time. - Transit Saturn was at 28° Aquarius H8 from where it aspects its own placement at 27° Scorpio H5. - Transit Rahu at 22° Gemini H12 was exactly aspecting H4 and H6, where L4 natally resides. - Transit L4 Venus was at 11° Sagittarius H6. - Transit Ketu at 22° Sagittarius was exactly aspecting H6, H10, H12 and H2. It was also closely conjunct natal L4 Venus at 24°

Sagittarius. - Transit L6 Jupiter at 21° Cancer H1 was aspecting H5, H7 and H9. The chart gives compelling evidence for this tragedy. It should be noted that on December 19, 1907, within two weeks of the Monongah Mine disaster,

another large mining accident took place at Jacobs Creek, Pennsylvania, United States where 239 miners were killed. The aspects would have been similar to the foregoing case. 2. Dawson,

New Mexico, United States, 263 killed (October 22, 1913) The Mars major period and the Jupiter sub-period were operating. The impact of Jupiter would have been prominent. - Transit L6 Jupiter was at 19° Sagittarius H6 from where it was afflicting H10, H12 and H2 and widely conjunct L4 Venus at 24° Sagittarius H6. - Transit L6 Jupiter was closely aspected by natal Rahu at 18° Aries H10. - Natal L6 Jupiter at 5° Scorpio H5 was aspected transit Rahu at 1° Pisces H9 - Transit L8 Saturn at 25° Taurus H11 was closely aspecting natal Saturn at 27° Scorpio H5 - Transit L4 Venus was at 9° Virgo H3 with L3 Mercury at 27° Libra H4. Dear friends,

Another mining accident has taken place, with three persons dead.

These accidents are occurring while the Saturn-Venus conjunction is

operating and transit Rahu is afflicting natal Ketu in H4 in SAMVA

Mining disasters in the SAMVA USA chart

Dear friends,

A mining accident took place in Utah last week.

The Moon major period and Saturn sub-period were operating.

It was also closely conjunct natal L4 Venus at 24° Sagittarius.

- Transit L6 Jupiter at 21° Cancer H1 was aspecting H5, H7 and H9.

The chart gives compelling evidence for this tragedy.

It should be noted that on December 19, 1907, within two weeks of the Monongah Mine disaster, another large mining accident took place at Jacobs Creek, Pennsylvania, United States where 239 miners were killed. The aspects would have been similar to the foregoing case.

- Transit L8 Saturn at 25° Taurus H11 was closely aspecting natal Saturn at 27° Scorpio H5

- Transit L4 Venus was at 9° Virgo H3 with L3 Mercury at 27° Libra H4.

The SAMVA USA chart again gives a compelling fit for the event.
