US financial markets rattled again

Dear friends,

After improving from the middle of August, it seems investors in the

US financial market have this week had a minor relapse of worries.

The stock market is 1,3% lower today, having pulled back from greater

losses earlier in the day.

What has moved the markets? Well, international markets have been

declining. Data released today suggests more slack is developing in

the US jobs market than expected. Alan Greenspan has also held

another speech saying the US is in a bubble and that mandkind has a

problem with bubbles and that investors have become fearful

increasing the chance of an overreaction on the downside.

In this regard, I am mindful of 's statement that

the markets have become global in nature. It seems most markets are

reacting to the present situation of loan losses in the sub-prime

mortgage market in the USA and the knock-on effects it may have on

other lending and economic activity going forward.

Given that the US is at the center of the worries of international

investors, it is also helpful to consider what is going on in the

SAMVA USA chart.

There are clear transit to natal afflictons at the present time and

some of them will last for some more days:

- natal and transit nodes are mutually afflicting with 4-5° orb. This

affliction clears completely in late September.

- the transit L2 Sun in H2 has been under close aspect of the natal

Rahu in H10. This affliction clears completely on 10 September.

- transit L8 Saturn at 6° Leo H2 has been aspecting ever more closely

the natal L1 Moon at 8° Taurus H11. This aspect peaks on 14 September

and clears in late October.

- transit L1 Moon at 4-6° Cancer has been under aspect of natal L6

Jupiter (sub-period lord) at 5° Scorpio H5. Only today.

- transit L10 Mars at 25° Taurus H11 is under close aspect of natal

L8 Saturn at 26° Scorpio H5. This aspect peaks on 10 September and

clears completely on 20 September.

It therefore seems the US may be vulnearble for some more days or

weeks to such worries, but an improvement is expected to settle in as

these transits pass for the most part by the middle of the month.

Best wishes,

Thor

Dear friends,

Here are todays headlines on Bloomberg regarding the USA:

1. Countrywide May Slash Staff by 12,000 as Losses in Mortgage Market

Deepen

2. U.S. Stocks Slump as Employment Data Prompt Concerns of Looming

Recession

3. Payrolls in U.S. Unexpectedly Declined in August, First Drop in

Four Years.

It is amazing to watch how the nature of problems emerging in the USA

reflects the planetary transits in the SAMVA USA chart (see below) at

any given time.

SPRING

In Spring, the stationary affliction by transit Ketu in H2 MEP

to natal L4 Venus in H6 and transit Rahu in H8 was mutually

afflicting with natal Ketu in H4 MEP. At that time the sub-prime mess

was revealed and concerns about the likelihood of a recession later

this year emerged. The weather also turned very volatile with many

storms and loss of life.

There were powerful other afflictions going on involving tr L6

Jupiter in H5 MEP conjunct natal L8 Saturn and aspecting tr L8

Saturn in H1, which in turn was afflicting natal L2 Sun in H7. This

combination created problems of a social (mass murder) and political

(Bush became besieged, including trouble with his staff, threats to

his life, etc) nature.

SUMMER

Keeping the focus on the economy, as the transits eased in the early

summer, the crisis seemed to go away. However, shortly after the

nodes again slowed down to stationary motion at around 13°-14°, where

they remained in aspect to the natal nodes at 17° 46', the situation

tensed up. Around 5 August, tr L8 Saturn in H2 became conjunct with

tr L4 Venus in H2 and began to aspect natal L1 Moon at 7° 26' Taurus.

These aspects coincided with an resumption in concerns about losses

in the sub-prime market. In early August, tr L6 Jupiter turned

forward in motion and re-entered H5 MEP on 12 August. These transits

conicided with the stock market diving as investors sought shelter in

safer government securities. The transit conjunction of Venus and

Saturn peaked on 14 August and seperated on 20 August, coinciding

with the market recovering and rallying, as central banks around the

world announced they would provide liquidity to banks that needed it.

AUTUMN

In early September, as tr Saturn in H2 became closer in aspect to the

L1 Moon, the effect of that began to materialise. We need to keep in

mind that in SA, afflictions to natally strong planets are only felt

within 1° and the damage is likely to be less if any. Nevertheless,

stress emerges. At the same time, consistent with the nature of the

planets involved, the focus of concerns shifted to losses of jobs and

incomes. After all, tr L8 Saturn (obstacles and endings) is

afflicting L1 Moon (self) in H11 (income and hopes).

In the coming four weeks, sub-period lord in the SAMVA USA chart, tr

L6 Jupiter, the indicator of conflict and financial (in)stability,

will be moving closer to an exact affliction of H5 MEP (speculation),

H9 (finance), H1 (self) and H11 (income and hopes). At that time,

stress related to the above areas would be expected to increase.

In the middle of October the expected conjunction of L8 Saturn, Ketu

and L4 Venus takes place around 11° Leo H2. This transit is likely to

lead to a resumption of concerns about the mortgage market. More so

as transit L10 Mars in H12 will be afflicted by transit Rahu in H8

and transit L3 Mercury in H4 will be afflicted by natal Ketu and

transit Rahu. While stressful, fortunately the slower moving malefic

planets will be moving closer to normal speed at that time reducing

the intensity of the impact, at least compared to what it would be if

the nodes or Saturn were stationary.

Best wishes,

Thor
