Guest guest
Dear Thor, Thanks for you mail about Google Earth. I too have been using it for a few years and the service really is amazing. The only issue I would raise is that in some locations the actual reading you get from the pointer is NOT 100% accurate. Most locations are fine but some are not. On the google earth forum you can find an extensive thread concerning this exact problem and a long list of places where the data is not completely correct and an estimate as to how "off" the data is. Check out the forum to get an idea of what I am saying. Just something to be aware of. Birthday wishes to our dear Professor. Best wishes, Petercosmologer <cosmologer wrote: Dear friends,If you want to see what your birth coordinates are exactly, please try out Google Earth.I found out that the coordinates I have been using for several decades for my birth city are off by some minutes when compared to what Google Earth suggests for the hospital where I was born. According to the coordinates I have been using, I was born 200 meters off shore! More importantly, the correct rising degree is some minutes from the earlier calculation. In Google Earth the the pointer at any given time will show the corresponding coordinates to an amazing level of detail. As accuracy can increase the benefit of a chart reading in SA, I share with you where to get google earth downloaded from.http://earth.google.com/download-earth.htmlBest wishes,Thor Answers - Get better answers from someone who knows.
