Pakistan and the courts

In the 23° Aries rising chart for Pakistan, the Ketu-Mercury period has been running from the beginning of 2007. L6 Mercury is natally placed at 12° Cancer H4, suggesting conflict is disruptive of the collective harmony. The conflict has in part stemmed from the Supreme Courts decision to enforce a law passed in 2002 restricting the contestation of parliamentary seats to those with a basic university degress, the BA. This law means that 68 members with such degrees from religious universities or no such degrees, stand to lose their seats in congress. Presumably, the affected members represent religious parties and this is serving to upset the balance of power in the country. It seems that Musharraf, due to his weak position, has been trying to strengthen his power base by giving in to demands by the religious groups in the country. However it seems the courts have a mind of their own about the political situation and they have

therefore been engaging the political leadership of Musharraf. This is likely the reason that he took the extreme step of suspending the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in March 2007. Interestingly, the difficult facing the courts is seen in the placement of transit L9 Jupiter, the key indicator of the judiciary, in Scorpio H8 all year long. At the same time, the chart suggests the situation facing the courts in Pakistan will improve considerably after Jupiter enters Sagittarius H9. Moreover, the situation in the country as a whole should improve considerably after the start of the Venus-Venus period on 31 December 2007 (see attached gif file for the chart of Pakistan, for those who recive the email).
