: Questions about politics

Dear ,

I have some questions about politics.

In a mundane chart, do you think we it is possible to distinguish between a democratic and a dictatorial form of government?

IT IS DIFFICULT.

If so, what would be the key guideline. Typically, the democratic form of government is considered benign and the dictatorial form of government adverse.

LORDS OF FIRST OR TENTH OR THIRD IN THIRD HOUSE CAN GIVE CHANCE OF DICTATORSHIP. THE LORD OF SIXTH IN FIRST, THIRD AND FOURTH CAN BE ADDITIONAL INFLUENCE FOR A DICTATORSHIP.

In the latter instance, as the following list shows, there have been some notable dictators in the world in modern times, although most of them have died, some still remain in power. Moreover, recently there have been indications that rulers of a few countries are in the early stages of assuming dictatorial powers, e.g. Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and Valdimir Putin of Russia.

This raises the question of what it is that explains such a development. To explain this form of rulership should one look to

- the natal chart of the dictator, such as the yoga for power through placement of the Sun

- the natal chart of the country, including dasas

- transits of slow moving planets through signs

or all of the above.

THE NATAL CHART OF THE COUNTRY & DICTATOR ARE RELEVANT.

If it were considered due to the Sun being a powerfully placed planet in the natal chart, would it be more likely to be a functional malefic planet?

NOT REALLY.

Best wishes,

Thor

Thor,

Seems to me you're missing somebody from this list who professed in

public it would be better to run his country as a dictator especially if

he was the dictator. And I would say this particular leader has taken

steps to assume dictatorial powers by enabling laws under a ruse that

eliminates rights that have been long standing in his country many since

it's inception. Any reason for leaving him off the list?

Cheers,

Brian

Very good!

On a more difficult task we need to ascertain why in the world at this

time to we see a rise again in totalitarianism (either right or left)

after the terrible experiences the world has seen in the past with such

regimes? What astrological trends create this? I can think of

sociological trends that might contribute to the rise such as the

growing population and the Internet shrinking the world. Thus some

factions may feel a need implement strict order and control.

Also these people are more the " front men " and it is important to find

who is actually backing them. And there may be a certain Indian

political figure who is missing too.

Cheers,

Brian

Dear Brian,

More importantly, we need to take into consideration what indications there are in the mundane chart of the country in question. Importantly, in the SAMVA USA chart the natal indications for the so-called

RULE FOR DICTATORSHIP

In the mundane chart look for

as prime influence:

L1, L10 or L3 in H3

or L3 influencing H1 or H10, especially if L3 happens to be Sun (Gemini rising) or Mars (Aquarius rising)

as additional influence:

L6 in H1, H3 or H4

are not in evidence. L1 Moon is in H11. L10 Mars is in H5. L3 Mercury is in H7 away from the MEP. L6 Jupiter is in H5. So the main indicators are not having this direct influence. However, I see this influence indirectly. L3 Mercury is in same house as L2 Sun which is powerfully aspecting H1. Additionally, L6 Jupiter is closely aspecting L1. However, it is not predicted the USA will succumb to this form of government given that such influences are only marginally felt. Moreover, we must also keep in mind that Bush will leave office in January 2009.

As for India, I presume you are referring to Indira Gandhi, who declared emergency rule? I have not seen her chart details. It would be interesting to examine the chart of Pervez Mussahraf, who also declared a state of emergency in this context.

Best wishes,

Thor
