Dear Mr. Imram,

Thanks for the update on the situation in Pakistan.

You have shared with us two documents concerning the political position of President Musharraf. In the former it seems you some in 2005 accurately predicted the increasing problems facing him this year. However the prediction for him to fall from power, first in August 2007, and the second in November/December 2007, have not been realised.

Are you holding to the view that it will happen no later than in the first quarter of 2008?

In the document you distributed to the list on November 3, 2007 the following is written: "I had given a detailed forecast on the chart of General Pervez Musharraf on February 3, 2005. The bottom line was (if you could search the very document that says) “he will not remain in power after August 2007”. Well, that prediction also encompassed the Jaimini’s Narayana Dasha, which here I am not considering. "

"Difficult to say, what will exactly happen next, but one thing it sure that General Pervez Musharraf will not remain epicentre of power. Even if he survives then his position will none but a dummy. The dasha, transit and varshphala on Musharraf’s chart show two possible time frames, either last week of October or months of November/December 2007."

"Lord of langa in 12th and retrogression of 10th lord reveals change of de facto government. But powerful Mars in 10th tells decisive role of military in change of regime. Muntha in 9th Aries suggests non-pro government military intervention in resolving political and judicial crises. Third week of August, last week of October and month of December is decisive in this regard."

In a file you uploaded to the SAMVA web page on December 7, 2007 one finds: "During this last month of December, we may expect increasing political uncertainty and decreasing grip of power. Every new dawn shall augment the possibility of withdrawing of the office to the President Musharraf. Even if natal robustness of mahadasha lord Mars resists and he successes to maintain the remaining power after mid of January; forthcoming Sun antar would not able to secure his office. He shall finally step down

whether sooner or later. By ‘sooner’, I mean, within one month, and by ‘later’ I mean within first quarter of 2008. But there is no chance of coup d'état against Musharraf from new army chief general Kiani as the office assuming chart of Kiani does not say so. Hence President Musharraf shall resign under pressure rather kick off by somebody else from outside."

"Lastly, about prospects of self-exiled leaders. Both Benazir and Nawaz Sharif hold their radical Moon at 1st degree of Libra, however, Benazir is going through under better dasha comparing her counter part Nawaz Sharif. Both politicians have been enjoying favourable transit of 11th Saturn since mid 2007. But unfortunately Rahu causes vedha to Saturn and restrict the fruits of beneficial transit Saturn. Until May 2008, both leaders won’t be able to assume any supreme executive office of the country. There after both would go for some alliance with seasoned and conventional political forces."

By comparison, as I mentioned on the list about one month ago based on the 28° Scorpio rising chart for Pervez Musharraf (see attached), it seemed to me that if he manages to cling to power until his Sun sub-period begins in mid January 2008, he should be able to consolidate and continue in power.

To this I could add that as Rahu natally afflicts his L6 Mars, the present aspect of transit Rahu to transit Mars would be very difficult. Moroever, with transit L2

Jupiter under aspect from his natal Rahu, his position at present would be quite difficult. There would be a lot of scheeming concerning his position.

If he manages to retain power he would likely be faced with a fresh crisis during the middle of the year when the nodes station on top of his Sun.

Best wishes,

Thor

Dear All,

The election commission of Pakistan has announced the postponement of general elections today. Now the elections will be held on Februray 18, 2007.

Three weeks back (on December 7, 2007), I had unequivocally clued the said postponement. Please see the brief reading at

..... elections shall surely take place in 2008, though not on time. Because it is difficult to have elections in January 2008 on account of retrogression of Mars in Gemini, the Moon sign of Pakistan . Moreover, during December 2007 and January 2008, Jupiter shall remain quasi-combust and may yield impotent results. .....

Another significant point is that on the announcement date of Jan. 8th elections, i.e. on Tuesday, November 20, 2007, the lord of weekday (Mars) was retrograde in the sign of Mercury.

M. Imran

Dear friends,

Attached are two news stories where Musharraf speaks to the press and denies culpability in the Bhutto assassination.

What is interesting is that the party that Bhutto led, the largest opposition party, is now basically a family possession; in the hands of her husband and 19 year old son.

The other party is run by former Prime Minister N. Sharif, who just managed to return from exile.

Given the strength of the Sun in Musharraf's chart and the fact that his next sub-period of the Sun is about to begin, I wonder if the developing political situation implies that the political opposition in Pakistan has become too weak to muster an effectvive challenge to his dominant position.

It would be interesting to hear other viewpoints on that.

Best wishes,

Thor

Musharraf: Bhutto Death Not Our FaultJan 3, 9:54 AM (ET)

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) - President Pervez Musharraf on Thursday denied accusations that the military or intelligence services were involved in the killing of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto. Speaking at a news conference a week after Bhutto was killed in a suicide attack, Musharraf said he was not "fully satisfied" with his government's own inquiry, and had invited British investigators to assist the probe to dispel any suspicions about official involvement in her assassination. "We don't mind going to any extent, as nobody is involved from the government or agency side," he said. He also denied there had been a security lapse and implied that Bhutto, who was greeting supporters through the sunroof of her armored vehicle at the time of the attack, was partly responsible. "Who is to be blamed for her coming out (of) her vehicle?" he asked. He pointed out that others in the vehicle had not been hurt in the attack. Musharraf conceded there were shortcomings in Pakistan's handling of the case, including the hosing down of the bomb site hours after the attack, widely seen as undermining a detailed forensic examination. But he dismissed any suggestion there was a plan to conceal evidence. "I'm not fully satisfied. I will accept that: cleaning the area. Why did they do that? If you are meaning they did that by design I would not say no. It's just inefficiency, people thinking things have to be cleared, traffic has to go through," he said.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has said assassinated former prime minister Benazir Bhutto ignored government warnings -- and defended himself against accusations that he had a role in her slaying.

President Musharraf blamed inefficiencies not conspiracy for the crime scene being cleaned.

He also admitted Thursday he is not satisfied with the investigation into her death, making his comments to reporters in a rare news conference held in English.

The first question to the Pakistani leader after his 20-minute address dealt with the myriad of conspiracy theories that blame Musharraf's government for helping orchestrate last week's assassination of Bhutto, who led the opposition's push for Musharraf to abandon his role as Pakistan's military leader.

"Frankly, I consider the question below my dignity to answer, but however I would like to answer it," Musharraf told the reporter from Britain's Sky News.

"I'm not a feudal and I'm not a tribal -- I have been brought up in a very educated and civilized family which believes in values, which believes in principles, which believes in character.

"My family, by any imagination, is not a family which believes in killing people, assassinating, intriguing. And that is all there I want to say."

Later, he accused Bhutto of "ignoring" warnings from the government and detailed the security provided to the former prime minister in Liaquat Bagh, the Rawalpindi park where she was killed last week.

"She was informed of the threat to her, the first time about three to four weeks back when she wanted to the same place," Musharraf said. "The intelligence agencies knew there was a threat and we told her not to go. ...

"So therefore she went on her own volition, ignoring the threat."

The park, often a place for political gatherings, is named after Pakistan's first prime minister, Liaquat Ali Khan, who was assassinated in 1951.

More than 1,000 police were patrolling the park where Bhutto's convoy passed last Thursday, and government snipers patrolled each building's rooftop, Musharraf said. Bhutto was traveling in a bulletproof vehicle, and had handpicked the head of her security detail, he said.

Musharraf pointed out that no one else in the vehicle was injured when gunshots rang out, followed by suicide blast that killed nearly two dozen people in the crowd.

"Nobody gets hurt (inside the car), only she when she ... decides to rise above the sunroof," he said.

He asked reporters to consider what he would have to gain from any role in assassination.

"Anyone who wants to assassinate or do anything of this kind must weigh pros and cons," he said " Would I ... be the maximum gainer or is there somebody else here who could gain more? So this is another element that I leave to your judgment."

He expressed his dissatisfaction with the way investigators immediately cleaned the area where Bhutto was killed, possibly wiping away key forensic evidence.

"It's unnecessary. It shouldn't have been done," Musharraf said. "But if you are meaning that they did it by design to hide evidence -- no.

"It is just inefficiency ... on the part of these people who think that things have to be cleared and the road has to be cleared and traffic has to go through.

"But certainly I'm sure that they didn't do it with an intention of hiding some secrets or that the intelligence agencies ... had instructed them to hide this. No, I don't believe that."
