In view of the above indications of natal potential and the match with two major events in the modern history of Japan, the study of this chart certainly begins with promise. With the subperiod being Rahu, my understanding is that this can also activate more the influence of Ketu ... Ketu when afflicting in a SAMVA chart can bring natural calamities, violent (actions or events) ... Mercury represents the 9th house significations of the judicial system, morality, religion, diplomats, foreign missions, progress and development along with its general significations of stategists, advisors to head of state and intellectuals ... Mercury is also the planet of communications ... Transit Ketu is aspecting on natal Mercury from the 8th house of beliefs of the masses, obstructions, accidents, etc. ... natal Mercury resides in the 4th house whose natal ruler Mars is strong in this chart, but currently its transit is very weak in the 6th house with an influence of transit Rahu on itself and its MT sign ... Throughout this stationary Ra/Ke period of time, I think at times there could be increased vulnerability for the Mercury significations I have mentioned and it may involve unrest and/or some type of violence regarding the masses. Ketu brings spiritual growth through miseries and given that this involves a planet that rules the 9th house, perhaps that will be the positive outcome for the Mercury affliction. Indeed, you mention the aspect of transit Ketu in the 8th house to natal 9th lord Mercury in the 4th house MEP. This aspect is likely to bring sudden obstacles to the indications of Mercury, disturbing the collective harmony as also transit 4th lord Mars is now badly placed in 6th house of conflict under the afflicting aspect of transit Rahu in the 2nd house.
