Iceland: banking system under pressure

Dear friends,

The Financial Times (www.ft.com) is today saying the international credit market has shut its doors to the Icelandic banks, which have expanded very fast abroad. This is a serious issue for the banks and the country. The upside is that the banks have funding to continue operating for the remainder of this year, but the lack of further credit crimps there expansion plans and if it is not resolved puts them at risk next year.

These developments are seen in the chart for Iceland where the Sa/Me period is operating.

- Transit 6th lord Saturn in the 12th house has been afflicting the MEP of the 12th house, the 2nd house, the 6th house and the 9th house. In coming days it will be in opposition with 12th lord Sun now in the 6th house.

- transit Rahu in the 6th house is aspecting transit 8th lord Mars in the 10th house. Transit Mars has been afflicting the 2nd lord Venus, but is now moving in on natal 12th lord Sun.

These transits and period explain perfectly well and amazingly well, actually, the conditions in Iceland. As Iceland is running the period of 1st lord Mercury in the 9th house, which is strong, the situation should ease once these adverse transits lift.

Best wishes,

Thor

Dear friends,

Following up on this story, the banks are not the lead story right now as the local currency, the ISK has grabbed the headlines by literally plunging in recent days.

1. transit stationary Rahu in 6th house continues to exactly afflict natal 2nd lord Sun in 10th house

2. transit 8th lord Mars is now exactly conjunct 10th house MEP and aspecting H1, H4 and H5.

3. transit 6th lord Saturn is now exactly conjunct 12th house MEP and aspecting H2, H6 and H9

4. transit 1st lord Mercury is conjunct transit Rahu in the 6th house

5. transit 2nd lord Venus is in the 6th house

It seems that 4. and 5. have had a major impact. Once the important benefics in the Virgo rising chart Mercury and Venus became badly placed and afflicted, the bottom seemed to fall out of the currency.

Early next week, transit 12th lord Sun in the 7th house enters the aspect of natal Rahu in the 11th house and natal Saturn in the 6th house. As the currency strength is affected by the natal and transit condition of the 2nd lord and Sun, these transits will likely keep the pressure on. We´ll see how it goes.

Best wishes,

Thor
