Prabodh Ji Explains - Malifics and Benifics

Dear All Namaste

There are many views on finding functional malefics. One of the ways

recommended by BPHS goes like this.

There are following groups of houses

least medium most

1 5 9 Benefic(FB)

3 6 11 Malefic(FM)

2 12 8 Neutral(FN)

4 7 10 Neutral for Natural malefics and malefic for

natural benefics

So, for any lagna 1st house is least benefic where as 9th is most.

This way we can analyse all lagnas.

Lets take Karka Lagna

Chandra Mangal Guru will be FB being lords of 1,5,9 houses.

Budha Guru Shukra will be FM being lords of 3,6,11 houses resp.

Surya Budha Shani will be FN being lords of 2,12,8 houses respc.

for 4 7 10

Shukra will be FM being naturla benefic owning 4th house.

SHani will be FN being naturla malefic owning 7th house.

Mangal will be FN being naturla malefic owning 10th house.

So summing up for Karka lagna

Surya is FN

Chandra is FB

Mangal is FB+FN=FB

Budha is FM+FN=FM

Guru is FB+FM=FB as it is most benefic and medium malefic.

Shukra is FM+FM=FM

Shani is FN+FN=FN

Lets take Mithuna lagna

Budha Shukra Shani will be FB being lords of 1,5,9 houses.

Ravi Magal Mangal will be FM being lords of 3,6,11 houses.

Chandra Shukra Shani will be FN being lords of 2,12,8 houses.

For 4,7,10

Budha Guru Guru will be FM as all are NB

So summing it up

Surya is FM

Chandra is FN

Mangal is FM

Budha is FB+FM=FBFM as it is least benefic and least malefic so

will show both features.

Guru is FM

Shukra is FB+FN=FB

Shani is FB+FN=FB

Lets take Kanya lagna

Budha Shani Shukra will be FB being lords of 1,5,9 houses.

Mangal Shani Chandra will be FM being lords of 3,6,11 houses.

Shukra Ravi Mangal will be FN being lords of 2,12,8 houses.

For 4 7 10

Guru Guru Budha will be FM as all are NB

So summing up

Surya is FN

Chandra is FM

Mangal is FM+FN=FM

Budha is FB+FM=FM as it is least benefic(lord of 1st) but most

malefic(lord of 10th)

Guru is FM

Shukra is FB+FN=FB

Shani is FB+FM=FBFM as it is medium FB and medium FM so will show

both features.

We see that for Mithuna lagna Shani is FB where as for Kanya lagna

Shani is FBFM! Where as Budha is both to Mithuna and FM for Kanya!

Lets take Guru Lagnas

Dhanu

Guru Mangal Ravi will be FB being lords of 1,5,9 houses.

Shani Shukra Shukra will be FM being lords of 3,6,11 houses.

Shani Mangal Chandra will be FN being lords of 2,12,8 houses.

For 4,7,10

Guru Budha Budha will be FM as all are NB.

So summing it up

Ravi is FB

Chandra is FN

Mangal is FB+FN=FB

Budha is FM

Guru is FB+FM=FBFM as it is least benefic and least malefic so

will show both features.

Shukra is FM

Shani is FM+FN=FM

Meena

Guru Chandra Mangal will be FB being lords of 1,5,9 houses.

Shukra Ravi Shani will be FM being lords of 3,6,11 houses.

Mangal Shani Shukra will be FN being lords of 2,12,8 houses.

For 4,7,10

Budha Budha Guru will be FM as all are NB.

So summing it up

Ravi is FM

Chandra is FB

Mangal is FB+FN=FB

Budha is FM

Guru is FB+FM=FM as it is least FB but most FM.

Shukra is FM+FN=FM

Shani is FM+FN=FM

So for Dhanu Guru is both where as for Meena it is FM!

That is why for Shukra lagna, Shukra is FM for Vrishabha where as FB

for Tul. And Mangal is FB of Mesha where as FM for Vrichika. I hope

Mr Vekhande's classification is as neat as it can ever get. Excellent systematisation.

A minor 'however'.

When we come to the third group of houses (2, 12, 8) and their lords, called Functional Neutrals -- the intensity scale does not hold. If it does, what would 'least neutral', 'meduim neutral', and 'most neutral' mean? It might mean something when actually applied to planets (Natural Benefic and Natural Malefic), I think. Thus:

LN+NB=FB (shall we call it functional benefic or final benefic?)

LN+NM=FM

Medium Neutral+NB=FB

MN+NM=?

Most N+NB=FB

Most N+NM=?

These two question marks are not so much on Mr Vekhande's excellent schema, as on our actual application.
