Guest guest Posted February 29, 2008 Report Share Posted February 29, 2008 Shivani Ji, Namaskaar, in my college days i used to do kavachs and strotas, now i m moved on, i need not recite these things, just remembering once to God is enough, even if i forget the God, God doent forget me, same is true for u and everybody else.. In both the kavach's it's the Sri HanumanJi who will save the devotee from the evils, and what difference it makes how you are invoking his kind blessings, do whatever u wish to do 5 mukhi or 11 mukhi, HanumanJi is HanumanJi. I have not chanted Sarva Kamna Purak Hanuman Mantra, I simple ask sometime Sri Hanuman Ji to do a favor and he does it, See, No god depends on some mantra or strota, it's we who thinks like that, it's our ignorance. We need to have love and willingness to be be a good person in life and then see, how u r directed, shaped, safeguarded and provided with what u need. regards, Lalit. However, the various strotra and slokas have their own appeal, as the way they are paraphrased etc it draws you closer to your deity. Besides they are a very poetic part of our heritage and should not be completely discard,, but maintained and handed down to the next generation.. Of course it only forms part of the spiritual journey, at different stages you have different needs depending on your level of understanding.. Flexiblity and progressive stages are the beauty of Hinduism, unlike many other religions where everyone is expected to keep to a particular set of rules etc.. Personally what works for me is lighting a diya and having a set 'Nitnem' prayers of about 5 mins daily. (if I am travelling, then sometimes I have to do without diya) This is part of my self deiscipline. During the rest of the day,, depending on my workload and inclinations, I read, listen to cd's of religious strotras or bhajans, or recite prayers/mantras etc,, with no other purpose than love of god. This is just for my own pleasure.. I have seen Hanuman Ji through open eyes, in action, alive, walking and jumping, not only me alone, but along with me, my 4 younger brothers - my real younger brother and 3 cousins, they also saw him. I saw him in various moods, I saw him burning like a flame in the air, i saw him like a great Yogi doing meditation under a treee .. I saw him doing fun like a kid, He is innocent and very simple, He blesses you without ur knowledge.. So, I think, I m qualified to write about him and his strotas with my life's examples. Very refreshing pictures from a far-off land, where the Indian diaspora is quite old, close to two centries. The last frame is the most devotion-arousing, at his feet. The countenance of Anjaneya depicted on the statue reminds me of his childhood romance of valour. He saw Savita, the morning Sun, fancied it as a cute toy and lept up to catch it. How Lord Sun extricated himself from the clutches of Mahavali, I don't remember any more. Perhaps because my boyhood memories were overlaid by later reading that Sun God is Hanuman's preceptor. Have you captured the heart of that boyish Hanuman?
