Guest guest
Dear Gauranga Prabhu, Hare Rama Krsna. Sorry for the delay in answering. I had an intense week of taking care of Lord Jagannath, Baladeva and Subhadra after They got sick from the snana yatra. We had Ratha Yatra in The Hague, Holland, yesterday. >I'd love to give th exact reference, but unfortunately I don't have it. I >just remember reading it in an issue of the Astrological Magazine. But it >must be Pancasiddhantika. Maybe Shiv Chadha or someone can give the exact >quote. Sadaputa Prabhu mentions this number of ayanamsa value in his new book " Mysteries of the Sacred Universe " as written in the Pancasiddhantika. Do you remember also if it was mentioned why he came to this ayanamsa? As I had very intimate days with Lord Jagannath, He gave me a lot of mercy and realizations. The ayanamsa value of Varaha Mihira can be obtained by the movement of the cosmic clock represented by the line described in this verse of Srimad-Bhagavatam, and by the progression of the Rahu-ketu axis. <<SB. 12.2.27-28: Of the seven stars forming the constellation of the seven sages, Pulaha and Kratu are the first to rise in the night sky. If a line running north and south were drawn through their midpoint, whichever of the lunar mansions this line passes through is said to be the ruling asterism of the constellation for that time. The Seven Sages will remain connected with that particular lunar mansion for one hundred human years. Currently, during your lifetime, they are situated in the naksatra called Magha.>> The Saptarsi constellation is known as Ursa Major in the Western astronomy. The first rising stars are Pulaha and Kratu, the stars on the edge of the cart. Notice that these stars point exactly to the North Pole of the sky. Extending this line to the zodiac, it will touch a particular naksatra. That is the ruling naksatra for 100 human years. Rahu-Ketu pass through one rasi in 1.5 year. One rasi is 2.25 naksatras, so in 0.66666 years one naksatra is passed. Now in 100 years the Rahu-Ketu axis will progress for 150 naksatras + 1 = 151 naksatras, indicating in this way that the 7 Sages are connected with one rasi for 100 years. And 151/3 = 50.33333. Then calculating further on the information that in 46.6666 degrees 1.200 years have passed, if we consider the 2 edges of the line from Pulaha-Kratu (note that in Krsna's time these 2 lines were diametrically opposite to each other in 90 degrees) 3.5 naksatras are passed on either side, so that gives us an amount of 7 naksatras. 2 x 7 x 100 = 1.400 years. Then why 1.200 years? Note also that the line will have passed Abhijit, which is an intercalary naksatra, because Abhijit went to the forest to meditate, so she left the heavens. Because of Abhijit 200 years must be deducted, as the total number for Abhijit will be 400 years divided over the 2 transits of this line over it. Regarding the actual ayanamsa degree at present, that will depend on the position of Rahu-Ketu at the time of the beginning of the kali-yuga. Definitely they should have been exalted in Rohini-Anuradha respectively. Regarding the actual positions, I have some ideas, but it still needs some refinement. Definitely the amount of years from the start of kali-yuga till the next year Rahu-Ketu become exalted in Rohini-Anuradha should be a multiple of 18 (the amount of years they travel over 360 degrees) and then 50 years after should be the Battle of Kuruksetra which should be a subha krit year, going in multiples of 60. The most probable and close date I could find would be 3.127 BC for the start of kali-yuga and 3.077 or 3.078 BC for the Battle of Kuruksetra. Maybe Narasimha or Shiv Chadha can check the dates of Yudhisthira and Krsna's charts for the respective dates. Note that Krsna left the world 36 years after the Battle of Kuruksetra and that the age of kali only then manifested, although it would have started 50 years before the birth of Maharaja Pariksit.
