Guest guest
Dear Gurudeva Pt Sanjay Rath, Jaya Jagannath! May the blessings of Lord Jagannath be eternally with us! Thank you for your questions. They inspired me to delve deeper on the subject matter. Speeking of some psychic experiences, Lord Jagannath gave me quite some mental foodstuffs to chew upon last week, as I was serving him intensely 24-hours a day, while meditating on the sisumara planetary system. >perhaps the refinement is gradually coming. It is. As I wrote to Gauranga, I found the reason why Varaha Mihira describes the ayanamsa value of 50 1/3 sec/year. The reason is in the presence (or non-presence) of Abhijit in the zodiac. Abhijit went to the forest to meditate after the 6 wives of the Saptarsi were involved with the birth of Skanda and they ascended to heaven as the krittika constellation (in the West known as the Pleiades). Then Rohini took the position of being the starting point of the cycle of naksatras. Because the Saptarsi will still remain connected with Abhijit (200 y per half circle of progression), this will create the ayanamsa to progress, since the planets will be moving further while the Saptarsi stand still so to say. This of course happens on a subtle level and cannot be noticed by us, though it will manifest in the fact that a full circle of the Saptarsi will be 10.400 years instead of the 10.800 years in case we had the 28 naksatras. Interesting verses from Srimad-Bhagavatam in this regard: " SB 5.21.8-9: The living entities residing on Sumeru Mountain are always very warm, as at midday, because for them the sun is always overhead. Although the Sun moves counterclockwise, facing the constellations, with Sumeru Mountain on its left, it also moves clockwise and appears to have the mountain on its right because it is influenced by the daksinavarta wind. People living in countries at points diametrically opposite to where the sun is first seen rising will see the sun setting, and if a straight line were drawn from a from a point where the sun is at midday, the people in countries at the opposite end of the line would be experiencing midnight. Similarly, if people residing where the sun is setting were to go to countries diametrically opposite, they would not see the sun in the same condition. SB 5.21.13-14: The chariot of the Sun-god has only one wheel, which is known as Samvatsara. The twelve months are calculated to be its twelve spokes, the six seasons are the sections of its rim, and the three catur-masya periods are its three-sectioned hub. One side of the axle carrying the wheel rests upon the summit of Mount Sumeru, and the other rests upon the Manasottara Mountain. Affixed to the outer end of the axle, the wheel continuously rotates on Manasottara Mountain like the wheel of an oil-pressing machine. SB 5.22.11: There are many stars located 200.000 yojanas [1.600.000 miles] above the Moon. By the Supreme Will of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, they are fixed to the wheel of time, and thus they rotate with Mount Sumeru on their right, their motion being different from that of the Sun. There are twenty-eight important stars, headed by Abhijit. " From these verses we can see the difference in motion of the sun and the naksatras. Around the time of Krsna the precession was falling practically together with the Rahu-Ketu axis, which will then be diametrically opposite to the line through Kratu-Pulaha. After about 4 cycles, they will again be coming to the point of being diametrically opposite. In a span of 1.200 years the progression (retrograde) of the Rahu-Ketu axis comes short about 3 years, which then can be divided down to 1/3 sec per year, which is added to the 50 sec. (200/28 = 50). >One point I want to know. Do you think that this is linear i.e. >every year the precession is exactly the same for all years in one cycle? Yes, the cause for precession is not like generally accepted, the tolling of Earth around its North-South axis, but results from the difference between Sun and stars' movement. Thus it should be linear. Earth is stable, Bhu-mandala is fixed to the Mount Sumeru, the sun, planets and stars rotate around Mount Meru in a different way. >You mentioned Magha in another letter. Where is Brahma in the Bha-Chakra? If I know well, Brahma should be at the beginning of each trine, since he is the creator and origin of everything in the universe. Thus he will reside in the naksatras lorded by Ketu, Aswini in a movable sign, Magha in a fixed sign, Moola in a dual sign. Thus Magha being the start of a fixed sign, which is representing the mode of ignorance, is quite fit for starting the kali-yuga. Ketu, being the North node, is also fit to represent Brahma, since he is situated on top of the Mount Sumeru, round which all planets and stars circumambulate. The top of the universe is represented by Dhruvaloka, beneath which is situated Lord Brahma's city. >Should not this be the Maxima or minima in case the motion is non-linear. >Is Magha exactly perpendicular to Brahma's position? Not always. However, at the start of kali-yuga it was, because it was the beginning of a yuga. Thus, for the chart of the beginning of kali-yuga, the nodes should be exalted in Rohini-Anuradha. Regarding the actual ayanamsa at present, I have a question. For Lord Krsna's chart, is there any indication that He was born when the nodes were debilitated at 20 degrees Taurus-Scorpio? In other words, the Rahu-Ketu axis should have entered into this point at that time? There is more, but time is again short now, so I will leave it like this.
