Atmakaraka Lesson: Gandhi's Mission and his Life

Dear Gurudev and Jyotisha!

 

I am posting my Interpretation of Gandhiji's Horoscope w.r.t your lesson on Atmakaraka

 

I was in doubt whether to take his birth time in IST or LMT and I considered both to see which comes out more prominent in Gandhiji's life.

 

The contender for atmakaraka here is Moon and Jupiter.With birth time in LMT, Moon becomes the AK where Jupiter becomes the AK when the time is taken in IST.

 

Everyone knows the role what Lord Rama played in the life of Gandhiji. Is lord Rama his Ista Devata or his Dharma Devata? The difference between Ista devata and dharma devata is that Ista guides the soul towards Moksha whereas on the other hand the dharma devata helps the person in attaining the ideals of life (pg: 55, Vedic Remedies in Astrology, Pt. Sanjay Rath). In my opinion it is more likely that lord Rama, who is signified by the brilliant Sun, is his dharma devata which made him live with the high ideals he is known for.

 

Dharma Devata is seen from the 9th from the Karakamsa. If we take the Moon as the AK, 9th is neither occupied/ lorded nor aspected by Sun. However, if we take Jupiter as the AK, Sun is the 9th lord placed in the 7th from the karakamsa. I think that the placement of Dharma Devata in the 7th has given the high ideals of "Sex" and he prophesed the ideals of Brahmacharya and fidelity in married life.

 

Hence I conclude that Jupiter is the AK. Jupiter gives the knowledge of "Brahman" as it rules the Sahasrara Chakra or the Dhi Shakti Kendra, from where the soul meet the supreme atma, the bramhman, the absolute. When a person attains brahman, he essentially lose the difference between different castes, creeds etc. He can see the light of branman in all living being irrespective of castes and creeds and consider them to be one thus he can follow the phylosophy of universal brotherhood and love all. Everybody knows what sentiments Gandhiji had for the poors and untouchables.

 

This universal love is not restricted for humans only but also for all creatures of this world. This shows why he strictly followed the path of Ahimsa. This is again intensified as jupiter is retrograde.

 

The Navamsa lagna is placed in the 2nd from Atmakaraka. Here I got confused??? How 2nd house matters such as food (moon) or money (Jup) ruled Gandhiji's mission of life or the cause of his birth!!!! Then I realised that 2nd house also rule Sustenance as a whole and ruled by Vishnu. The purpose of gandhiji's birth could be to teach Ahimsa and tolerance for the world to sustain without clashes because of material things such as land (british encroachment of India) or because of differences in castes and creeds etc. He taught us the unforgettable lesson of humanity.

 

We can see the karaka of the 2nd house Mercury (vishnu) is wellplaced in the lagna both in the Rasi and Navamsa Lagna. In the Rasi chart Mercury is placed in 7th, a kendra from the AK showing that Merc will be working for fulfilling the desires of the Atma (AK). This also explains the importance of Speech in the life of Mahatma (2nd-mercury-speech) to influence the masses. We can also see that Saturn, the planet of masses is placed in the 5th from the AL (perception) giving him the authority (5th) over the masses. People perceived him to be a messiah for the downtrodden. Moon (own house) in the AL gave him the fame, but rahu also tainted his image to some extent (many think that because of Gandhiji, the india is partitioned, which could have been very well averted, which provoked pios brahmins like Nathuram to kill him).

 

Who is the Ista Devata then? Mars is the 12th lord from Jupiter placed in Taurus with Venus, should show a female martian deity (Harihara- Mars in female sign) and also placed with a female planet, such as Chamundi or Bagalamukhi. But we know that Gandhiji is never associated with them. Why? We see that though Venus is placed in his own house in Taurus, it is also aspected by Mercury (Vishnu). Hence Merc. become the Ista. Hence some rupa of Vishnu is Gandhiji's Ista. Ram is also a Vishnu Avatar. Gandhiji's Mantra was "He Ram" which is of 3 akshara. I think Sun (Ram) is placed in the 3rd from the AL (in Rasi) gave him that.

 

If we take 12th from Moon (if Moon were the AK), Saturn is placed with Merc, can also show Vishnu avatar, however I am more inclined towards Jupiter as here Sun (Ram) becomes the dharma devata.

 

Jupiter as Ista can also be confirmed from the Karakatwa of Jupiter in gandhij's life. Jupiter indicate children and elders (gurujana). Gandhiji did loved children and respected elders...

 

Jupiter as AK also aspect the Lagna by Graha drishti, showing his high morals and tremendous will power. The papakartari yoga of lagna by Saturn and Sun has seen him in the Jail many times. However "Bondage of Physical body mean nothing when the soul is free from all bondages"

 

I think I shall stop here as there is no limit to going on. In Gurudev's guidence I am finding my horizons ever expanding.
