Jaya JagannathDear Jyotisha,

Let me give a little twist to the discussion on Traveling abroad.

Traveling is shown by 4 houses 3rd, 7th, 9th and 12th, which signify longer "duration" from 3rd in an increasing order. However duration and the distances are not the same. The distance of travel can be judged from the signs influencing the matters of travels. If it happens to be Movable, then it shows long distance travels, if it happens to be Fixed, then it signify short distance travels and if they happen to be dual, then the travel is neither very far nor very near.

Among the planets the karaka for travels are the Venus and Saturn. In the dasa of Venus and Saturn there can be travel, as they try to give results of the karakatva too, during their dasas. Similarly Dasas of the planets who are associated with the Karakas can also give travel.

Badhaka also cause travels. If the dasa-antar lord is associated with the Badhaka or placed in a quadrant from it, then it can show travels. However in all the cases, the "duration" is shown by the the planets involved and the "distance" is shown by the signs involved.

Along with this, the karaka for the foreign influence is Rahu. We can say that any person can have foreign influence (showed by traveling to foreign land) if there is any association by placement or conjunction of Rahu on the Lagna or the AL. Lagna shows that person shall strongly imbibe the influences of the foreign land whereas the influence on the AL, shows that the person might change his dressing or food or the accent, but he is inherently a strong follower of own culture. The opposite to Rahu is the influence of Jupiter, which promote the influence of the native's own culture on the native.

Now, how to see the bhagyodaya in the foreign land. Check out whether the kendra to Lagna or the 12th has more planets. This is to see which is more stronger, the Lagna or the 12th. If the 12th is stronger, then the foreign land shall suit the native. Also check out various yogas happening in the kendra to the Lagna or the 12th, they shall support either success in the native's own land or foreign land.

Best Wishes

Sarajit
