Namaskar Chandrashekarji & Lalitji, The interpretation of retrograde planets is one of the most contested topics in present day jyotish I would like to add my experiences as below: (i)I do not agree with the view that Vakri Grahas act as if they are situated in the previous Bhava. This is not borne out by actual experience. In my own chart I have Guru & Shukra in Vakri (in 2nd & 8th house respectively) and they have most certainly not given the results of placement in the 1st & 7th houses. (ii)A Neecha graha in retrograde motion certainly becomes more powerful. If it is a malefic,it's power to harm becomes much more pronounced. Exalted benefics in retrograde motion DO NOT act like Neecha Grahas,in fact that give very good results ( aspects, placement in Navamsha chart to be checked before coming to a

conclusion) A Vakri graha shows some deep rooted desire from the previous Janmas which the individual has to experience on a internal level in this life.Vakri grahas are more subtle in their influence when compared to Grahas which are direct in motion Looking forward to a more detailed discussion on this topic With Warm regards, aavesh Chandrashekhar <sharma.chandrashekhar wrote: Dear Lalit,Personally, I never go by empirical formulas in Jyotish. I understand that a retrograde planet is 3 times as powerful as a planet in regular motion in graha bala, as he is away from Sun, and gains strength just as Moon does when it is away from Sun. Now just because he is retrograde, I would not think he acts like being in an earlier house. neither would I think that whenever it is in debility it would act as if in exaltation without reference to where it is placed. I also do not think that debilitated planets always give bad results and find support for this, logic of mine, in

Mansagari. If we assume that a graha that is in debility and retrograde acts like in exaltation then the reverse also must hold true. Till this point everything is fine but will the effects be identical when placed in dusthana and when not must be thought over at depth before making any judgement, is the way I would look at it.I could however agree to the theory that planets with additional aspects could also influence by the additional aspects on the reverse side too. This is because of more their strength than because they face backwards, which is the argument advanced sometimes. I do not think that the planets aspect because they have eyes and that they aspect backwards when they are retrograde. To me this does not appear logical as the sages did know that the planets did not have any human form and the only reason that, they are talked about as if they have human form is to make some characteristics of the planets easy to understand.Of

course this is my personal opinion and other could hold a different view.Chandrashekhar.litsol wrote: Dear Sir,Pls. explain it with ur experience, is there any exception to uttarkalamrita that u may have seen.we will learn more from practical experiences.regards,Lalit.Vedic Astrologyandhealing , Chandrashekhar <sharma.chandrashekhar wrote:>> Dear Kamal,> > Uttara kalamrita (If I remember right) does say that grahas that are in > debility and retrograde act like exaltation and vice-a-versa.> Chandrashekhar.> > litsol wrote:> >> > Dear Kamal,> >> > What i understand is - retrograde planets
