Statehood for Washington

On November 11, 1889, President Harrison issued a

proclamation admitting Washington into the Union. The news reached Olympia by

telegram sent from the office of Secretary of State James a. Blaine to Governor

Elisha P. Ferry. Since the State Department wired " collect, " the

governor had to pay 61 cents to read, " The

President signed the proclamation declaring Washington to be a state in the

union at five o'clock and twenty

seven minutes this afternoon. "

The first Washington

Territorial legislature, called to order in 1854, met in the hastily built

second story of a store near the waterfront owned by Edmund Sylvester. For the

next two sessions it met in Olympia’s first Masonic lodge, until a two-story Territorial

Capitol building was finally completed in 1856 on the wooded hill behind town.

On Capitol Hill, on a

ten-acre site donated by Edmund Sylvester, stands a historic building, being

the old capitol erected at the expense of the general government in 1855.  Within

its walls the various legislative sessions, territorial and state, since the

first two, have assembled.  In 1889 an extension was added to this building to

accommodate the constitutional convention.  The next legislative session will

be held in the new state house.

Jorge, John,

Ok, so with the new chart, both period lords are afflicted by Ketu very closely.

The nodes are currently afflicting the third and first. And the

fourth lord is weak in the eighth of tragic happenings, deaths,

transformations.

Interesting.

Thanks to both for the chart work.

Aloha,

Sally
