Advise for the Solar Eclipse?

Express Star Teller Jun 2002 edition advises exactly what is to be done during Eclipse periods.The advise is given by Veda Sastra Brahmasri G.Srinivasa Sastri who is a teacher of Vedas in Sri Kapaleeshwar temple Chennai.

 

The natives who may be most affected will be people born in the nakshatras of Mrigasira,Punarvasu and Jyeshtha and these people should be careful regarding health and driving.They should recite Aditiya Hridayam for aperiod of 7 months from Jun 2002 to Dec 2002.Those born in Vrishaba and Vrischika signs,esp BP patients and diabetics,should attend to health problems immediately.Chant the following Guru mantra at least 3000 times during the eclipse.

NAMAH

Donate Black gram (unbroken Urid Dal) mixed with "Bhasma"(sacred ash)tied in ared cloth to a pious brahmin.

 

Generally for others reciting dosha nivarthi slokas will bring immense benefits.

 

Vedic pandits call the eclipse period as "Punya Kaal"(pious time).Shradha ceremonies(rituals done in memory of the deceased ancestors) are to be performed for deceased ancestors by those who have lost their parents.Some perform Tila tarpan or donate rice and raw bananas to vedic brahmins.Those whose parents are alive should perform Japa of mantras.Shastras say that the merits (punya)derived from performing any ritual or worship get multiplied several times during the eclipse period.
