Dear Brendan and Frank,

Good example to get a feel of health problems with astro-explanation.

B. wrote:"Interesting that Saturn has argala on the lagna and it is obstructed by Rahu. Who wins?" One who is srtonger on more accounts, I guess- is that S or R? Does S MD adds some /more/ importance to Saturn /since its effects are more pronounced in its period, I'd say yes/

What if Rahu's obstruction of argala is stronger? Will that manifest as 'suppressed effect" of Saturn /you explained/ or as some other Rahuvian 'symptoms: which ones? I'd like to know what health problems are related to Rahu, and if the strength of Rahu/Ketu increases or decreases its 'evilness'?

Brendan, you suggested that Frank keep digestive fire strong: would you please give some examples- spices, hot, what else...

You also said that certain types of Pitta aggravate Vata-

It seemed to me that 'keeping digestive fire strong' adds Pitta element, now I see from what you wrote, that's not the case. So, would you please expand on this?

Thank You.Anna

Saturn is placed in Virgo and he aspects the lagna. What does this mean for your health?First of all, Saturn and Rahu are tamasic planets and since Saturn is in Virgo, he will cause some problems in the digestive tract... a Vata type derangement giving rise to malabsorption, toxicity, etc. This in turn is aspecting the lagna and therefore harming the body. Interesting that Saturn has argala on the lagna and it is obstructed by Rahu. Who wins?In D-6, Saturn is aspecting the LL and 6L and the Sun, all significators of health.Keep your digestive fire strong to burn up the AMA.Tagara is very tamasic herb. Mahasudarshan is not appropriate. It has nothing to do with the number of herbs in the formula. It is used to treat high fevers and certain types of excess Pitta. It will aggravate Vata.Regards,Brendan

Namaskr,Folksthis discussion is on Vata imbalance...In my cart Chandra ( mind) is in earth sign of Taurus ( for Vata dosha) and has Rasi Dristi from Mars ( pitta) and Shani isin Virgo ( Hasta Nakshtra). Rahu also gives Graha Dristi to Chandra - all causing a Vata imbalance that is experienced. What to do about this?1. Use of tripahla for balancing all doshas ?2. Tagara possibly? with Mahasudarshan a blend of 40 herbs...I am open to suggestions.Regards, frank in san diego|Om Tat Sat|http://www.varahamihira

Dear Anna,

Rahu is a very tamasic planet and rajas and tamas are the cause of disease. Disease due to tamas are more difficult to "cure" and hence, the diseases indicated by the tamasic planets tend to be regarded to more chronic. Planets can also become tamasic because of lordship also.

Tamasic planets increase Ama, undigestive food stuff in the digestive tract that goes into circulation in the body, clogs and accumulates in the dhatus, even the mind, and produce dullness, fullness, that toxic feeling inside and clogs the entire system. Each planet has its own specific action according to its nature.

If one dosha increases, then it has to have an effect on the other doshas and vice versa!

It is possible to increase Agni without increasing Pitta dosha and in cases where Pitta is low, then it is very desirable to increase its function. This requires a deeper study of the science of Ayurveda.

Regards,

Brendan
