It is recommended to use the method taught by Sanjayji in Upadesa Sutras

4.3.14. The Varnada of other house should be calculated in the same way as

for lagn, but you should consider the huse cusp instead of Lagna sphuta.

Then you can go on to calculate Varnada Lagna, as given in the subsequeint

stanzas in the same book.
