Why not Venus? (To Chandrashekharji)

Dear Sir,

We have this empowering scenario for a bhava: " a bhava gets strength if

it is aspected by its own lord, Jupiter or Mercury " as you have said in

your last reply to me. I have seen this rule w.r.t. lagna. Now, why is

Venus left out. Hasn't some text declared Venus a greater benefic than

Jupiter? Where is the catch!

Dear RK Da,

 

I do not claim to know why the sages imparted the authority to

strengthen a bhava to the aspect of Budha and Guru. However it might be

due to the fact that Guru is karaka for knowledge whereas Budha is

karaka of education and easy grasp of a subject. So it is possible that

they impart these valuable attributes to the bhava they aspect. I

remember my father saying that all the wealth may go but Knowledge and

Intelligence are the most important of valuables that never desert one

and as such give one innate strength.

 

Incidentally though Shukra is a benefic, he is also the one who

attracts the most dosha as a Kendradhipati.

 

Another important fact is that in Ashtakvargas, Guru imparts 56 bindus

and Budha is next with 55 bindus and that may be the reason they

strengthen bhava. Again if you look at how bindus are given by planets,

it is interesting that no planet casts bindu to 7th from itself in

Venus' Bhinna ashtakavarga.
