Guest guest
Respected Sir, Three queries--- 1) It is said that 6th, 8th and 12th houses are dusthanas (bad houses). Here what is the exact meaning of this word? I mean whether the planets in these houses will not give good results or the lords of these houses would become functional malefic or both the things. Please guide me. 2) It is also said that the lords of 3rd, 6th, 8th and 11th become functional malefic in a horoscope. I think 12th lord should also be functional malefic. Dr. B. V. Raman and ‘Bhavarth Ratnakar’ both didn’t mention functional maleficance for the lord of 12th. What do you say, sir? 3) The 6th house is called ‘dusthana’ as well as ‘upachaya sthana’. How should we distinguish both the results related to the 6th house. I mean the ‘upachaya sthana’ helps to grow the results but the ‘dusthana’ tends to decrease (rather destroy) the results. Guest guest
Dear Saurabh, The meaning is pretty clear, disease, Life and end of it and expenditure can not be termed good so they are bad houses. Actually they are called Trika sthana as there are some more dusthanas if we want to go deeper in to what are good and bad sthanas. Having said that generally the lords of these sthanas do not give good results, unless weak when they can cause Vipareet (contrary to general principles)) rajyoga. Of these the lords of 6th and 8th are decidedly functional malefic and the Lord of the 12th gives results of the other house owned by it. If that is a trikona, the results are good, if not , then it gets the functional malfeasance. Out of these 6th being an upachaya the malefics give good results in some area of life of a jataka when occupying 6th. In 8th and 12th the malefics cause more problems than the benefics, though the bhavas occupied by their rasis do suffer somewhat. In 8th Chandra indicates a possibility of balarishta (not always). I have already explained that 12th is a neutral as far as its result giving capacity is concerned. Actually not fully neutral. It generally gives bad results in the later half of its dasha even when the other bhava owned by it is a trikona and first part of the dasha is good. Upachaya sthanas are places of growth. But their lords are not good for 3, 6 and 11 and these sthanas are called Trishadaya sthanas. 3rd is 8th from 8th, 6th is roga and 11th is 6th from 6th and gives ill results from the bhavat bhavam principle. BY the way in astrology there is no black and white sort of assessment. 6th is a roga and enemy sthana and you would like your disease or enemy to be destroyed, but would you like your maternal relatives, and wealth of the eldest born, also destroyed, as the 6th also represents that. That is why while assessing and commenting on a chart and its probable results it is good to take everything into consideration and not merely go by set methods that tend to indicate mechanical results. Take care, Chandrashekhar. saurabh chaturvedi wrote: Respected Sir, Three queries--- 1) It is said that 6th, 8th and 12th houses are dusthanas (bad houses).
