Dear Prabodh,

 

The discussion at least on my part is about effects in dashas of

certain lords of bhavas. And I hold my opinion on the basis of what

Parashara says in BPHS. If one only reads the chapter on what graha is

functional malefic or benefic with respect to a certain lagna, one

could get the impression that you appear to carry. No problem with

that. However I prefer to read the entire text to interpret what

Parashara meant to convey to Maitreya. In chapter 34 about Yogakarakas

to which the original query and perhaps, also you are referring to also

mentions that the lords o trishadaya sthanas which certainly include

the 6th bhava are inauspicious or malefic. It might interest you to

read what Parashara says at Adhyaaya 48 shlokas 3 and 4 and 14 to 17.

You may not find Parashara giving any exception to Jupiter as 6th lord

therein.

 

Of course it is up to the astrologers to apply my opinion to real life

charts and find out what is right. I do not insist that others should

follow only what I opine.

I was under the impression that 9th lord if not 8th lord as

well(Mithuna Lagna), Parashara has always treated it as benefic. Even

with Mithuna lagna, if 9th lord is with 10th Parashara treats it as

benefic.

than benefic, per Parashara. I think in its period the 1st half of

dasha will not be good whereas the second half will be good.

 

Saturn, in my opinion, is certainly functional malefic.

Yes you are right. It all depends on how you look at the chart and astrology. Even with entire text interpretation it is difficult to say that Parashara has advised Maitreya to consider Jupiter as malefic for Cancer lagna. But,with your accumulation of knowledge and skill gained from direct participation in events or activities related to Vedic Jyotish I am sure one day everybody will know true aspects of Parashara-Maitreya Samvad.
