UK - outlook for the economy

Dear friends,

The 16° Virgo rising chart for the UK is running the Mars-Jupiter period until 19 May 2008, when the Saturn sub-period begins.

The transits in the UK chart have been quite challenging of late with the nodal axis in stationary conjunction with 6th lord Saturn natally placed at 2° 17' Leo and 12th house. While the nodal station is lifting, transit Ketu is now at 2° 49' Leo and will become exactly conjunct natal Saturn on 9 April - five days from now.

The transits at this time are also especially difficult as 6th lord Saturn is transiting the 12th house with 12th lord Sun this week in an applying conjunction with the natal nodal axis at 23° Pisces (and Virgo). Meanwhile transit 8th lord Mars is in exact opposition to natal 12th lord Sun at 19° Sagittarius and 4th house. Hence, financial stability and linkages to adverse developments abroad should be highlighted at this time.

It is a saving grace that the sub-period lord, Jupiter, is placed in its own sign and house. However, for the coming three months it is in old age in the sign.

When the Saturn sub-period begins, natal 2nd lord Venus at 25° 27' Capricorn and 5th house will be coming under the close affliction of transit stationary Rahu at around 24° 40' Capricorn and natal 1st lord Mercury at 26° 28 Scorpio and 3rd house will be feeling the aspect of transit Ketu in Cancer and the 11th house.

More difficult, will be the aspect of the transit stationary nodes to their natal counterparts at 23° Pisces and Virgo.

As transit Saturn will be in 12th house, suggesting that financial stability will be under pressure associated with a reduced ability to lend, due to debt losses and associated write-offs. The transit afflictions during 2007 will then be capped by the nodes becomming stationary on the 5th and 11th house MEPs. This suggests sudden losses, setbacks for future plans and even an economic recession (a decrease in the flow of income in the economy). The transit are thus likely to make the conditions more difficult for the UK economy while the Mars-Saturn sub-period is running until 28 June 2009, when things should begin to improve when transit Saturn also enters Virgo and the 1st house in the chart.

However, the passage of Jupiter through Aquarius and 6th house from mid 2009 to mid 2010, would be expected to keep conditions in the financial system fragile.

Best wishes,

Thor
