The toll in two days of violence went up to 31 on Saturday after police fired on a mob of Gujjars when they set on fire a police station at Sikandra in Dausa

district after overpowering the policemen, leaving 15 persons dead, Rajasthan Home Secretary VS Singh said. The agitationists, demanding ST status and protesting Friday's killings in police firing, burnt four vehicles, including a roadways bus, in Sikar district and squatted on rail track on Mumbai-Delhi section disrupting movement of trains and put up road blocades on Delhi-Jaipur highway. The Gujjars stormed a police station at Sikandra in Dausa district and set it on fire after overpowering the policemen, after which police opened fire on the protesters killing ten persons, Sikandra SHO Bane Singh said. "The situation is extremely tense and additional police force has been requisitioned to handle the situation", Singh said. Eight hundred armymen were deployed on Saturday in violence-hit Dhumiria and Karwari villages of Bayana tehsil, the scene of yesterday's violence by Gujjars, joining the CRPF and Rapid Action Force to

restore law and order. The state government rushed DGP AS Gill to talk to Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsala who said he was ready to talk to the government but made it clear the agitation would continue till their demand was met.
