Guest guest
Dear Thor & List, Could you confirm the Lahiri value you are using for the Jan 1st, 1900 reference point. I have been using a value of 22 degrees 27 minutes 55 seconds.....Is that correct? Many thanks for all your insightful posts. Sincerely, Peter Sent from Mail. A Smarter Email. Guest guest
Hello Peter, Jyotish Tools, which I use exclusively, is giving 22° 27' for that date. It doesn´t show more detail. When rounding the ayanamsa, your information is 22° 28', which I think is close enough. Best wishes, Thor SAMVA , peter bo <ght451 wrote: > > & nbsp; > & nbsp; > Dear Thor & amp; List, > & nbsp; > Could you confirm the Lahiri value you are using for the Jan 1st, 1900 reference point. & nbsp; I have been using a value of 22 degrees 27 minutes 55 seconds.....Is that correct? > & nbsp; > Many thanks for all your insightful posts. > & nbsp; > Sincerely, > & nbsp; > Peter > > > > > ________ > Sent from Mail. > A Smarter Email http://uk.docs./nowyoucan.html >
Guest guest
The problem is there is no " official " documentation for Lahiri other than it is supposed to be 0 degrees at some date in the past (285 AD I think). We can assume that's 0 degrees by the Indian calendar which would begin in the spring. The ayanamsha calculation I use does that whereas for some reason the Swiss Ephemeris winds up at 0 degrees in the fall. These is no " official " method of calculation either so there are disputes as to what to include in the calculation. Most astrology software developers probably look up the most popular offset which nowadays would be for January 1st, 2000 not 1900 and use that just to avoid controversy and confusion. Besides it doesn't really effect the positions much anyway and astrology was never meant to be an " exact " science. - Brian cosmologer wrote: > Hello Peter, > > Jyotish Tools, which I use exclusively, is giving 22° 27' for that > date.
