Guest guest
Opening Date 8 Aug 2008 Scheduled start time 8.08 pm Actual start time 8.00 pm Ascendant 9deg Aquarius The Beijing games have finished without any major disruption or incidents. There were some protesters but these were swiftly dealt with. Some of the following may be seen in the Games opening chart. 1. The overall domination of the games by China( in terms of gold medals) 2. The emergence of a superstar in Michael Phelps. Compare his chart to that of the Games opening chart and see why he eclipsed his competitors. Birth data 30 June 1985 Baltimore MD 3. The murder of a relative of a US coach and the injury of another by a knife wielding Chinese man who later committed suicide. 4. A bus crash resulting in the death of two Chinese and minor injuries to games competitors/visitors. 5.Tight security and over regulation resulting in poor attendances. Large crowds obviously pose a security risk. The general mood of the games was sombre and serious. Ironically in a city where the air hangs thickly, the missing ingredient was atmosphere. This was not a fun games but it was well organised and professionally run. .. 6. A deceptive element in that some of the opening ceremony fireworks broadcast to the world were digitally enhanced and the girl who sang “Ode to the Motherland” was actually miming the voice of another not as pretty girl. 7. The Chinese were in mourning over the fallen Emperor and Face of the Olympics, hurdler Liu Xiang who succumbed to injury. Certainly an unfortunate event when home expectations were high.
