Dear Prof Choudhry:

I have read on the net that on Aug 15, 1947 India was under war time

and that the time zone should be 6:30 GMT. This would change the

rising sign to Aries for India's independence chart. Do you think that

war time was in effect for this chart?

Thanks

Arvind

Hello Arvind,

As a rule one should be careful when seeing controversial factual

statements that are made on the net. Accordig to all the major

sources (e.g. Campion, astro.com) the answer is negative. War time

was not in effect in India in August 1947.

Best wishes,

Thor

Hello Arvind,

War time of one hour was applicable from 1st September, 1942, to 14th October, 1945, only

Best wishes.
