AP – BOSTON (Reuters) – A powerful ice storm knocked out power to about 1.2 million homes and businesses across New York and New England on Friday, closing roads, delaying trains and forcing the state of Maine to shut government offices.

 

"This is a very, very serious situation," New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch said after declaring an emergency in his state, where as many as 400,000 lost power in what local authorities described as the worst outages in three decades.

"I don't think anyone anticipated it would be as bad as it is," Lynch said, calling the devastation far greater than an infamous 1998 storm when 55,000 homes lost power and some went a full week in the dark.

Thank you for the kind words and congratulations, - and for making it all possible with SA.

 

For the benefit of the list members I would like to say a few things about the importance of using PREDICTION in astrological inquiry. It is also getting close to the end of the year and at such a time it is normal to look back and make assessments. My thoughts at this time go to the whole effort on SAMVA list - to rectify authentic charts for countries in order for us to make accurate predictions. Indeed, the biggest success on SAMVA this year has been the use of the SAMVA USA chart to make many predictions in advance and see them come to fruition. It has been amply demonstrated that this chart has become a potent instrument of astrological insight and prediction in the hands of SA astrologers. The role of astral remedies undoubtedly also helps in the good results. By comparison, I would like to mention that I have seen all to often how it is evidently possible to EXPLAIN 'after-the-fact'

a lot of events in the US history with almost 'any chart', no matter how spurious the historical basis of the chart is. All that is needed is for the astrologer to avoid imposing a 'restraint' in terms of the astrological method. For instance, many astrologers are busy looking for 'after-the-fact' explanations without sufficient discipline. It is all to easy to pick from the vast body of 'rules of interpretation' that have been shown to be nothing more than 'accumulated confusions'. Some astrologers, jump from one method to the other, cherry picking 'suitable' explanations. While it may be an enjoyable exercise in itself, it has been shown to be quite useless. Importantly, what is needed for astrological inquiry, is to impose adequate scientific constraints on the inquiry and not immediately resort to 'derivative' insights before exhausing the information associated with the 'fundamental' factors*.

Without such discipline, the astrologers run the risk of not only fooling themselves but others and, at worst, bring a bad name to astrology. It cannot be emphasised enough, the importance of using the 'scientific method' in astrology, as in all other fields of human inquiry. As this is the basis of SA, we can explain and PREDICT events in the USA with authentic charts, including the SAMVA USA chart. The focus on SAMVA has been on getting the fundamentals right and on repeat successful predictions. I am sure some past list members have considered me 'conservative' in years past when discouraging posts on SAMVA favouring a more 'liberal' approach. For instance, years ago some list members wanted to expand on SA with their own untested hunches. I did not favour this. I was content to see SA develop under 's wise guidance. After

several decades of fruitless inquiry, after I came accross his contributuion, it did not take me long to appreciate the worth of his insights and assessment. By sticking with SA and adopting the modifications has seen fit to introduce in years past, my ability to make accurate predictions has increased. This claim has been amply documented on this list and on my blog. Looking back over this year, the success rate has been far beyond 50%, which is what we would expected if the predictions were just the outcome of chance. This is testament not only to SA or the SAMVA USA chart, which was rectfied on this method of interpretation, but to the consistent effort to understand and apply the correct fundamentals when interpreting and predicting based on the chart.

 

My hope is that ever more astrologers join this more disciplined and useful inquiry on SAMVA list.
