Dear friends,

On December 23, 2008, issued a prediction for 2009 which included the following passage:

"Things start taking positive outlook from August, 2009, onwards. The terrorism threat may persist and may compel USA to look beyond its strategic issues. US will stop aiding the countries acting as fountain-head of terrorism."

A key influence behind the prediction is the stationary conjunction of transit 6th lord Jupiter with natal 2nd lord Sun in the SAMVA USA chart next fall.

A few weeks ago, I suggested this same aspect, which is taking place during the latter part of March would offer a clue as to what to expect in the fall. Well today the following news appears:

U.S. moves to suspend aid for Madagascar

March 20, 2009 -- Updated 1944 GMT

(CNN) -- The United States is moving to suspend all non-humanitarian aid to Madagascar because it considers this week's forced departure of its president "tantamount to a coup d'etat," State Department spokesman Robert Wood said Friday.

Best wishes,

Dear Sujit,

Thanks for the information, further confirming the prediction. It could be

usefully pointed out that the prediction was primarily based on a reading of the

period and transit influences in the SAMVA USA chart (Perpetual Union).

War II is losing its grip on the U.S. economy. The latest hint is due Friday

when the government releases data on consumer spending and income for July.

Personal spending is expected to have posted a modest gain last month, driven

higher by the popular Cash for Clunkers program. Economists surveyed by Thomson

Reuters expect personal spending rose 0.2 percent in July after a 0.4 percent

gain in June. Economists believe that personal incomes, the fuel for future

spending increases, probably rose 0.2 percent as well, following a 1.3 percent

decline in June. On Thursday, a report confirmed that the economy shrank at an

annual rate of just 1 percent in the spring. Many analysts say growth likely

returned in the current quarter. Smaller dips in consumer spending and other

areas during the April-June period led some economists to raise their forecasts

for the July-September quarter.

Hello list members,

I recall the following prediction by for 2009.

"The terrorism threat may persist and may compel USA to look beyond its strategic issues. US will stop aiding the countries acting as fountain-head of terrorism."

Now we read the following in todays news:

8 years in, Obama weighs Afghanistan options

AP – October 7, 2009 – 24 mins ago

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is gathering his national security team for another strategy session on Afghanistan eight years after the war started and as a new poll shows public support declining.

Obama, who inherited the war when he took office last January, is examining how to proceed with a worsening combat situation that has claimed nearly 800 U.S. lives and sapped American patience. Launched after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to defeat the Taliban and rid al-Qaida of a home base, the war has lasted longer than ever envisioned.

http://news./s/ap/20091007/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_us_afghanistan

There have also been a flurry of news recently as well as earlier this year in this regard, concerning the need for further support in both Afghanistan and Pakistan. At the same time, President Obama's approval rating has been dropping and his disapproval rising, linked to his administration continuing with some unpopular foreign policy decisions of the Bush administration.

US military deaths in Afghanistan region at 779

The Associated Press – Mon Oct 5, 8:56 pm ET

As of Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at least 779 members of the U.S. military had died in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan as a result of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001, according to the Defense Department. The department last updated its figures Monday at 10 a.m. EDT. Of those, the military reports 600 were killed by hostile action.

U.S. lawmakers press Obama on Afghan war strategy

Tue Oct 6, 2009 7:25pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama told congressional leaders on Tuesday his decision on a new Afghan war strategy would not make everyone happy, while Republicans urged him to heed his military commander's call for more troops.

ANALYSIS-US troop build-up in Afghanistan may be gaining favor

06 Oct 2009 22:08:27 GMT

WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (Reuters) - The Obama administration is strongly considering a war strategy that incorporates at least some additional forces in Afghanistan alongside a stepped up campaign against al Qaeda and Taliban targets in Pakistan. The Pentagon says Defense Secretary Robert Gates, a key player, is undecided about next steps. But he has publicly said many of his earlier reservations about adding forces have been addressed and remains a strong proponent of counter-insurgency strategy, signals that he may be leaning toward a further buildup. Combining an expanded counterinsurgency campaign in Afghanistan with more counterterrorism operations inside Pakistan's tribal areas would be consistent with the administration's existing strategy, launched in March. Stephen Cohen, an expert at the Brookings Institution think

tank, said it was "inconceivable" that Obama would abandon a counterinsurgency strategy so soon after launching it.

Pakistan seeks long U.S. commitmentStory Highlights

October 7, 2009 -- Updated 0147 GMT

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi met with U.S. Secretary Hillary Clinton and urged the United States to articulate a long-term vision for the region, amid debate over U.S. involvement in Afghanistan. Pakistani For. Min. Shah Mehmood Qureshi and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton meet in Washington. "The people of the region have to be assured that the United States has a long-term vision," Qureshi told reporters after his meeting on Tuesday in Washington. "Not just for Afghanistan and Pakistan but the entire region." Qureshi wouldn't comment on the debate in Washington about whether the U.S. should send up to 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan or scale back the mission, with Qureshi calling it a judgment for "military commanders on the field." He said that Pakistan has made great strides in combating terrorism on its soil, but

still needed U.S. support, and he urged Washington not to abandon the region as it did after helping Afghan fighters drive Soviet troops from Afghanistan in 1989.

U.S., other nations pledge support for Pakistan

Thu Sep 24, 2009 9:28pm EDT

In view of the prediction made by based on the SAMVA USA chart, it will be interesting to see what decision the Obama administration arrives at in coming days or weeks. Already, the fact that this issue has been put on the front burner now is exactly in line with the predicted influences in the chart at this time.
