As I looked into the matter, I decide to share my observations with the list members. Other views are welcome. According to the 24° 43’ Capricorn rising chart for President Barack Obama, he will pass from a fairly positive Jupiter-Moon period to a much less favourable Mars sub-period on March 27, 2009 until March 3, 2010. The dual malefic Jupiter-Rahu period then operates until July 27, 2012. Natal strength is 15% on account of old age. To this we can add 25% of the 15% due to placement in Leo bringing the strength to 22,5%. Such a weak Mars is highly vulnerable to setbacks due to transit afflictions, especially of slow moving FMs. Mars is 4th lord of real estate, conveyances and inner tranquility. It is also general indicator of courage and physical vitality. The strength of Sun and Moon in this chart help to shore up the vitality. The upside is that while Mars is weak on account of extreme old age and bad placement in the 8th house of obstacles and endings, it is not afflicted. His mothers life was to some extent troubled in that she had 2 failed marriages and she also died at a relatively young age from ovarian cancer. She was only 52 years old when she died. On the other hand Obama’s mother was accomplished. She earned the PhD degree and came from a good family. This is reflected in the strong and well placed Moon in Obama’s chart. Obama built his campaign on bringing hope and change American's can believe in. It is likely the serious setbacks to the economy, with associated rise in unemployment, and problems in reforming the role of the USA in the world or an inability to bring peace where it is badly needed, will be the sources of his inner dissatisfaction to him. Likely, Obama will be faced with many obstacles which he will not be able to surmount, at least to the extent he thought or suggested would be possible. With the natal aspect of Jupiter as 12th lord of losses in the 1st house of self aspecting his Mercury as 9th lord of luck in the 7th house of spouse and others, statements made by him could end up coming to haunt him. At the same time, an aspect between Jupiter and 9th lord would imbue a person with a spiritual outlook. Transit afflictions to natal Mars are important during its period. From October 2009 to January 2010, transit stationary Rahu at 27° Sagittarius will be conjunct the MEP of his 12th house, from where it aspects his natal 4th lord Mars as well as the 4th, 6th, and 8th houses. This would place a strain on the 4th house indications. The aspect becomes exact in March 2010 Adding to the stress in August-November 2009 will be an aspect from transit debilitated 12th lord Jupiter stationary at 24° Capricorn to his 1st, 5th, 7th and 9th houses. The self, spouse, children and friends will come under strain. From October 2009 to April 2010, transit stationary 2nd lord Saturn at 10° Virgo/H9 will come under aspect from natal 12th lord Jupiter at 7° Capricorn/H1. Moreover, from August 2010, transit stationary 2nd lord Saturn at 8° Virgo will become afflicted by both his natal and transit 12th lord Jupiter at 8° Pisces. At that time, the could be problems for his status, placing a strain on his family life. In short, the aspects this year in the SAMVA USA chart suggest controversy, conflict or health problems surrounding the President of the USA, resulting in strains to inner peace. More challenging events are indicated for 2010. As President Obama is the leader of his country, his chart also bespeaks of the fortunes of the American people. In other words, his presidency runs through a fairly difficult period of Venus-Saturn in the SAMVA USA chart.
