Nuclear Iran

Iran is one of the important countries in the world. For several years, a serious foreign policy controversy has been brewing in the mid east concerning the nuclear ambitions of the Iranian authorities. Neighbours like Israel, and in fact the international community, have repeatedly voiced concern about these efforts. In recent months, the leaders of Israel have repeatedly stated that if

Iran acquires nuclear weapons it will be a serious threat to peace and stability in the region. Consequently, Israel has declared its preparedness to strike at Iran in an effort to destroy these capabilities, much as it did by bombing the Osirak nuclear facilities in Iraq in 1981. Iran has already developed its own long range missiles capable of carrying such weapons.

Time running out to stop Iran nuclear pursuit, investigator says

Story Highlights

- N.Y. district attorney's probe: Iran moved money through U.S. financial institutions

- Morgenthau: Money was to help Iran buy materials for nuclear, missile programs

- Morgenthau to Senate committee: Iranians serious about pursuing program

- Iran says nuclear program is for peaceful purposes

May 6, 2009 -- Updated 2205 GMT

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A man who spearheaded financial investigations of Iran said Wednesday the Islamic republic is "deadly serious" about developing nuclear weapons and long-range missiles -- and there's not much time to stop it before it does. New York District Attorney Robert Morgenthau told a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing that although he's not an expert on proliferation, many such experts were consulted in the financial probes "and it comes out loud and clear: It is late in this game and we don't have a lot of time to stop Iran from developing long-range missiles and nuclear weapons." Morgenthau helped uncover a multibillion-dollar scam that Iran used to move money through U.S.

financial institutions to help buy materials for its nuclear and missile programs. In January, a large British bank agreed to pay $350 million in fines after it was accused of helping Iran hide the transactions. The investigation provided what Morgenthau called "Iran's shopping list" for weapons of mass destruction.

Dear friends,

Things appear to be heating up in Iran and for President Ahmadinejad.

Massive pro-reform protest in Tehran, Iran

Last updated: 9 hours ago

In the biggest protest ever since the Islamic revolution 30 years ago, hundreds of thousands of people showed up to support Mir Hossein Mousavi, the pro-reform candidate. This is just two days before the election day. The protestered walked towards the "Azadi" (Freedom) monument which has been a symbol of Tehran for a long time. While one would see supporters of Ahmadi-nejad here and there (the last two photos), the whole scene was dominated by color green, which represents the "green movement" of reform - a symbolic gesture of Mousavi's supporters.

Dear friends,

The developments in Iran are interesting, given the Presidential elections:

Ahmadinejad Challenged in Iran Vote as Rivals Decry Isolation

By Ladane Nasseri and Henry Meyer

June 11 (Bloomberg) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad faces a serious challenge in tomorrow’s election as two rivals favoring better relations with the West and a former Revolutionary Guards commander try to deny him a second term.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087 & sid=axzFnzvsMPmoBased on a 10° Cancer rising chart tentatively rectified for Ahmadinejad, we can predict that he is likely to come under signficant strain this summer. In particular, there is a natal placement of Rahu at 5° 58' Scorpio conjunct Saturn at 8° 38' Scorpio, whch suggests major obstacles. Moreover, as the chart is currently running the Rahu-Saturn period, this energy in the chart is active and this summer it will be activated by difficult aspects of the transit nodes. In particular, a few weeks from now, this natal combination will come under strain from the transit nodes,

while transit stationary 8th lord Saturn in the 2nd house afflicts his 10th lord Mars in the 8th house. The tension regarding these aspects are seen from the present time, when the transit nodes move past 9° 38' Capricorn and Cancer, and into the Autumn of 2009. The greatest tension associated with the nodal station of Rahu in his 7th and Ketu in his 1st houses, which are closely afflicting his natal nodes in the 5th and 11th house, is from July 6 to August 24. At that time, the transit nodes will be stationary at 6° 11' Capricorn and Cancer. In particular we can also note that in addition to the mutual affliction of transit and natal nodes, natal Saturn as 8th lord is closely afflicting transit Rahu this summer, more so in the month of May. As this is a tentative chart for Ahmadinejad, the prediction of a significant event in coming weeks or months is offered as a test of this chart for him.

http://cosmologer.blogspot.com/2009/04/nuclear-iran.html

Of course, there is considerable uncertainty about this chart, but we will soon see how things work out for him.

Dear friends,

Some hours from now we will know whether Moussavi or Ahamdinejad won the election. Both have declared victory as the polls closed.

Voter turnout could help unseat Iran's Ahmadinejad

updated 2 hours, 13 minutes ago

Story Highlights

- Turnout "unprecedented," polls to stay open till all in line can vote

- Incumbent President Ahmadinejad's main rival is reformist Moussavi

- Rallies during last days of campaign were massive for Moussavi

- None of candidates expected to change Iran's position on its nuclear program

TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- His campaign caught fire in recent days, triggering massive street rallies in Tehran. Now, heavy voter turnout believed unprecedented Friday could help reformist Mir Hossein Moussavi win Iran's presidential election.

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/06/12/iran.election/index.html

Interestingly, with transit 8th lord Saturn (lord of legitimacy) afflicted by natal Rahu in the 2nd house of the 24° Cancer rising chart for Iran as well as natal 6th lord Jupiter (lord of political opposition) being afflicted by transit Ketu and Rahu, it is likely the election outcome will be disputed.

Consequently, Israel has declared its preparedness to strike at Iran in an effort to destroy these capabilities, much as it did by bombing the Osirak nuclear facilities in Iraq in 1981. Iran has already developed its own long range missiles capable of carrying such weapons.

Dear friends,

A difficult situation has arisen for the main opposition candidate Moussavi and he has already called the official election result "a dangerous charade" which is in line with the prediction "it is likely the election outcome will be disputed."

Ahmadinejad 'wins Iran presidential vote'

09:13 GMT, Saturday, 13 June 2009 10:13 UK

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been re-elected as president of Iran with a resounding victory, the country's electoral commission says. With more than 80% of results in, the commission said he won 64% support in an election marked by high turnout. His main rival, reformist Mir Hossein Mousavi, also claimed victory, calling the result a "dangerous charade". Police have sealed off Mr Mousavi's campaign HQ, preventing his supporters from holding a news conference. Mr Mousavi was hoping to prevent Mr Ahmadinejad winning more than 50% of the vote, in order to force as run-off election. However, the Iranian

election commission said Mr Mousavi's share of the vote was around 32%. Earlier, the state news agency Irna declared Mr Ahmadinejad the "definite winner", and his campaign manager was quoted as saying "any doubts cast on this victory will be treated as a joke by the public". The BBC's Jon Leyne, in Tehran, said police moved to prevent protests on the streets on Saturday, with few signs of celebration from Mr Ahmadinejad's supporters and heavy security around Mr Mousavi's campaign headquarters. There were reports that a rally for Mr Mousavi was broken up. Police increased security on polling day to try to head off trouble from supporters of the losing candidates and all gatherings have been banned until the official

results have been published. This election brought hope to millions of people that they could change the direction of the country through the ballot box, and those people are going to be deeply disappointed. The AFP news agency said police dispersed opposition supporters on Saturday morning, quoting a senior police official as saying: "The time of dancing and shouting is over." Most of those backing Mr Mousavi were waiting to hear from their candidate before deciding whether to take to the streets and protest. Mr Mousavi has scheduled a news conference for Saturday morning. One opposition supporter who gave her name as Shirin, told the BBC she still had confidence Mr Mousavi would become president. "But he advised us, the supporters, not to do anything harsh or trying to... clash with Ahmadinejad's supporters," she said. Our correspondent says Mr Mousavi's next move is extremely important, as will be the reaction of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Mr Mousavi has already said there was a shortage of ballot papers and alleged that millions of people had been denied the right to vote. His election monitors were not allowed enough access to polling stations, he added, saying he would deal seriously with any irregularities.

The transit difficulty seen in the chart of President Ahmadinejad is also something to watch throughout this summer.

- None of candidates expected to change Iran 's position on its nuclear program

TEHRAN , Iran (CNN) -- His campaign caught fire in recent days, triggering massive street rallies in Tehran . Now, heavy voter turnout believed unprecedented Friday could help reformist Mir Hossein Moussavi win Iran 's presidential election.

The situation remains tense in Iran. The BBC reports that "Iran is in turmoil" which is consistent with transit 8th lord (MMP) Saturn becoming conjunct natal FM Rahu at 23° 40' Leo and the MEP of the 2nd house in the 23° 42° Cancer rising chart for Iran during the first half of July.

Opposition leaders court arrest by defying 'unlawful Iranian regime'

(Raheb Homavandi/Reuters)

Mir Hossein Mousavi said Iranians had to 'defend the rights of our people'

Three of Iran’s most prominent opposition leaders flagrantly courted arrest yesterday by denouncing President Ahmadinejad’s Government as illegitimate, one day after the regime said that it would tolerate no more challenges to the election result. Mir Hossein Mousavi, the former Prime Minister who lost the election, said that the suppression of dissent was tantamount to a coup. “It’s not yet too late,†he declared on his website. “It is our historical responsibility to continue our protests to defend the rights of the people . . . and prevent the blood spilt by hundreds of thousands of martyrs from leading to a police state.†Ayatollah Mohammed Khatami, 65, a popular former President, accused the regime of mounting a “velvet revolution against the people and democracy†and called the security crackdown “poisonousâ€.

The terms "disputed" is now appearing in many head lines about the outcome of the Presidential elections in Iran yesterday. As I mentioned in my post then, the transits in the Iran chart are now quite challenging.

TEHRAN , Iran (CNN) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has won a landslide election victory despite protests by his main challenger of "blatant violations." Ahmadinejad won 62.63 percent of the vote while chief rival Mir Hossein Moussavi received 33.75 percent, the Iranian government said Saturday. Before the final results were announced Moussavi addressed the people of Iran in a sharply worded letter. "I recommend to the authorities that before it is late to stop this process immediately, and to return to the path of the rule of law and the holding of the public trust through the votes of the people," he said. Iran 's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, called the voters' turnout a show of Iran 's "pride" and "honor."

Hello dear list members,

The political crisis in Iran is consistent with what was written in the blog article Nuclear Iran (April 23, 2009) http://cosmologer.blogspot.com/2009/04/nuclear-iran.html has the following statement:

"During the summer and early autumn of 2009, transit Ketu will be stationary at 6° 11' Cancer, where it is closely conjunct natal 6th lord Jupiter at 5° 30' Cancer and 1st house. At that time, a sudden violent event would be likely...The 8th lord Saturn also afflicts Venus as 4th lord of land and natural resources, which is placed at 10° 22' Aquarius and thus in the 8th house of obstacles. Adding to the strain of this placment is Ketu being at 23° 40' Aquriaus and thus exactly conjunct and afflicting the MEP of the 8th house, making the energy suggesting loss of life through sudden violent events more pernicious."

It is now held that close to two hundred persons died in the mass protests following the Presidential elections.

On SAMVA list on April 18, 2009, astrologer & author V.K. Choudhry, said that "[the problems ahead would be] more than tension and outright hostility is seen. Iran is in the sub period of the Moon in the main period of Rahu. Rahu is on the MEP of the house while the Moon is under the close aspect of the MMP. Rahu will not allow Iran government to make efforts to settle the matter for avoiding outright hostility[3]."

It is now well known that the elections were manipulated, as the number of ballots counted out of the ballot boxes exceeded the number of registered voters by 3 million!

The article then continues, with an examination of a prospective chart for President Ahmadinejad:

"...we can predict that [Ahmadinejad] is likely to come under signficant strain this summer.

Certainly, this prediction has been realised. The article then continues:

In particular, a few weeks from now, this natal combination will come under strain from the transit nodes, while transit stationary 8th lord Saturn in the 2nd house afflicts his 10th lord Mars in the 8th house. In particular we can also note that in addition to the mutual affliction of transit and natal nodes, natal Saturn as 8th lord is closely afflicting transit Rahu this summer,

more so in the month of May. As this is a tentative chart for Ahmadinejad, the prediction of a significant event in coming weeks or months is offered as a test of this chart for him."

We now read that while Ahmadinejad has been sworn in, there is still a crisis and plenty of dissent.

Ahmadinejad sworn in as Iran president amid crisis

AFP – Hardliner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will on Wednesday be sworn in for a second term as Iranian president in … 2 hrs 54 mins ago

TEHRAN, Iran – Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was sworn in for a second term as Iran's president Wednesday while security forces battled hundreds of protesters chanting "Death to the Dictator" in the streets around parliament where the ceremony was held. Key opposition leaders, moderate lawmakers and all three of Ahmadinejad's election challengers boycotted the swearing in ceremony. State-run Press TV said more than 5,000 security forces were in the streets around parliament and police with sniffer dogs patrolled the area after the opposition called for demonstrations to coincide with the inauguration. Hundreds of protesters chanted "Death to the Dictator" before security forces broke up a demonstration near parliament, striking people with batons and blasting them with pepper spray, witnesses said.
