Mars in Cancer

Transit Mars will enter its sign of debilitation on October 6, 2009 and will remain there until May 26, 2010. This 232 day transit is unusually long for Mars within one sign. That said we may also recall that transit Mars spent 225 days in Gemini not long ago, or from September 16, 2007 to April 29, 2008. At two times, Mars will become stationary. The first time will be around 26° Cancer from December 11-30, 2009. The second time will be around 6° Cancer from February 27, 2010 to March 24, 2010. At those times, Mars will have an influence on MEPs at those degrees in houses containing also the signs Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius, as well as planets placed at this degree in the aspected signs.

 

Mars and the SAMVA USA chart

We noted at that time that as Gemini is the 12th house in the SAMVA USA chart, that such Martian indications such as "courage" would be lost. This was indeed the case with the US financial market becoming unhinged for that period, with one unnerving news story hitting the market after the other. It is enough to recall the collapse and public rescue of the investment bank Bear Sterns in March in this regard. The collapse of the company is considered a prelude to the meltdown of the Wall Street investment bank industry in September 2008 and subsequent global financial crisis. Mars is also 10th lord in the chart, and this was a difficult time also for the indications of this house, including government administration, foreign trade and rule of law. This time, with Mars transiting the 1st house. While Mars is a FB planet and in a good house, it is debilitated in this sign. As such, the positive indications of the planet will be

related to the self-identity of the country but perhaps not in a very helpful way. At two times, Mars will become stationary. The first time Mars is stationary around 26° Cancer/H1 it will be within 2° orb of the natal 2nd lord Sun at 23° 44' Capricorn (Mars' sign of exaltation) and 7th house. As such, the time could be good for the Obama Presidency and administration. The second time, Mars will be around 6° Cancer when it will be within 2° orb of a trine aspect from 6th lord Jupiter at 4° 25' Scorpio/H5. This time could lend some conflictual issues but the aspect is not so close as to produce worries about setbacks in relation to the indications of Mars, also as Mars is natally strong.
