Hello dear list members,

 

There is plenty of conflict in the Middle East, with significant US involvement, including in Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan. At the end of this message is some discussion of the present and forthcoming transit influences.

 

One thing of special interest in the news today is in the area of US diplomatic relations. The relations with Pakistan seem to improving, at least from the US side, if this story is anything to go by.

She also said the Obama administration intends to do more to support Pakistan on a wide range of issues, including economic development, energy generation, education and the environment. She suggested that the administration of former President George W. Bush had focused too narrowly on Pakistan's value as an ally in the war on terrorism, neglecting other aspects of the relationship.

Dr Zafar Iqbal says the death toll in Wednesday's attack in Peshawar city is expected to rise. The blast coincided with a trip to Pakistan by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The U.S. Embassy said one of the U.N. dead was American. A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the early morning attack, saying it was meant as an assault on the upcoming presidential election.

We have earlier discussed in detail the transits in the SAMVA USA chart which are consistent with the developments. Jupiter has turnded direct in transit and will become conjunct natal Sun as 2nd lord at 23° 44' Capricorn and 7th house on November 1, 2009. It will be 1° away from this placement on November 22, when the strains seen in foreign policy recent months are expected to have significantly wound down, although a different type of strain is expected to emerge towards the end of the year when transit Saturn as 8th lord around 10° Virgo in the 3rd house becomes stationary in close aspect to natal 10th lord Mars at 10° 07' Scorpio and 5th house. The third house has to do with initiatives, entrepreneurship, courage, transportation and communication. The 8th lord has to do with obstacles, endings, government communication, beliefs of the people, red tape, easy gains, etc. Saturn is linked to

mining, oil, traditional industry, working people, large structures, old things, etc. In turn, the 5th house has to do with creativity, speculation, universities, etc. The 10th lord has to do with the executive government, foreign trade, laws, public recognition, etc. Mars is linked to the military, police and athletes, or professions characterised by physical skill and effort, state of the art industries, metals, etc. As Mars is natally strong, this is only expected to produce strain and not significant setbacks, much like the recent transit affliction of the Sun. The obstacles that are expected to emerge will be linked to 3rd house indications and expressed in terms of the indications of Mars in areas ruled by the 5th house. Clinton is apparently the highest member of the United States Government to speak out openly about American frustrations with Pakistan since September 11, 2001. "With a friend like that, who needs enemies?" Hillary Clinton must have said to herself after her first visit to Pakistan this past weekend.
