Tony Blair: the next President of the EU?

There has been some debate in years past on SAMVA list about the rising sign of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Blair is again in the news over the likelihood of his becoming the first President of the European Council, according to the Lisbon Treaty.

His official birth record gives 12Â° Taurus rising. A half an hour earlier birth time gives him 29Â° Aries rising.

According to SA, the Taurus rising chart does not seem to give the political influence Blair enjoyed, while the Aries ascendant does.

It was predicted on SAMVA list in 2003, based on the Aries rising chart, that Blair would become a "lame duck" Prime Minister during his Ketu period (Jan 2004 - Feb 2005) and that he might enter the diplomatic field in the Venus period (Feb 2005 - April 2008). The events turned out that way. Wikipedia has the following overview of his political career:

His rise in life came in the Jupiter period when he entered study of law and then rose to the pinnacle ot British politics.

In the Aries rising chart, Jupiter is 9th lord placed in the 2nd house conjunct 1st lord Mars, which is very good for family life, status and wealth. The major period of Jupiter would be expected to see a significant rise in life. Indeed, it began in 1982, ushering in his rise in life. As Rahu aspects the strong 1st lord Mars in the 2nd house, it would not be problematic and could bring diplomatic ability and material gain. During this period Blair has been active in founding trusts and other civic things. On 22 December 2007, it was disclosed that Blair had converted to the Roman Catholic faith. A strong and prominently placed Sun and Jupiter bring a religious approach to life.

-Saturn-Moon period, his candidacy for the top EU job is now more discussed, but the outlook suddenly dims at an EU meeting on 30 October 2009, when the EU leaders give out signals that are considered going far towards eliminating his chances.

Based on the Aries rising chart, the sub-period is certainly helpful for his chances, but not the major period.

In the Taurus rising chart, Jupiter as 8th lord is placed in the 8th house of self conjunct Mars as 12th lord, with Mars closely conjunct the MEP of the 1st house and also aspecting houses 4, 7 and 8. Mars would make the man selfish and its influence on Jupiter, the planet of religion, would bring a reduction in religious sentiment.This major period would be expected to be associated with plenty of obstacles and losses for the native. Further Sun as 4th lord is badly placed in the 12th house of losses would not be associated with political power nor the acquisition of ones own home or major honors. Blair lives in a very fine house that he owns. In the Taurus rising chart, 3rd lord Moon becomes quite powerful being placed in the sun-like 9th house, albeit not in the MEP of the house. With 5th lord Mercury badly placed in the 12th house and 10th lord Saturn weak in old age in Virgo and 5th house, this would not be a good placement for

his 10th or 5th house indications. Blair has had a very good career and owns many children. 6th lord Venus exalted in the 11th house would bring conflict to friends and over income.

In short, what could we expect for Blair and the EU Presidency? Based on the Aries rising chart, the Saturn major period is clearly not helping him, but his present sub-periods are of strong and well placed planets, which have during better major periods been associated with a stellar rise in the life. With Jupiter, Saturn and Mars not strong in transit until mid 2010, it would seem his chances are not so good until then, despite the favourable Moon period. The Mars sub-period from November 2010 might be better for him as Jupiter and Mars then are strong in transit. We'll soon see.

Three weeks ago here on SAMVA, it was predicted for Tony Blair, based on a late Aries rising chart for him, that his chances to be appointed President of the EU were not good.

"With Jupiter, Saturn and Mars not strong in transit until mid 2010, it would seem his chances are not so good until then, despite the favourable Moon period."
