The problem is the recent criticism of internet giant Google of the Chinese government's efforts to violate human rights (freedom to speech), a 3rd house issue. Google has refused to continue to provide adjustments to its software enabling the government to curb free speech on the internet. Now another US software company, , has entered the controversy and taken sides with Google. After a lull last year, U.S. politicians jockeying ahead of crucial November elections have stepped up attacks on China as a way to win support from voters worried that the Asian power is taking American jobs. China-bashing eased during President Barack Obama's first year in office, partly as a nod to the administration's attempts to get Chinese help settling nuclear standoffs with North Korea and Iran, and on important environmental and economic initiatives. Now, with little to show from Obama's charm offensive and a looming make-or-break election, lawmakers want tough action against what manufacturers say is a Chinese currency policy that hurts millions of American workers by making Chinese products cheaper and U.S. products more expensive. U.S.-China ties are already battered following the recent announcement of a multibillion dollar U.S. arms sale to Chinese rival Taiwan and a meeting between Obama and the Dalai Lama, revered by millions but accused by Beijing of pushing for Tibetan independence. Attacks on China might add more irritation to a relationship the White House portrays as the world's most important and most complicated. American politicians, however, have calculated that raising China as an economic boogeyman can help them connect with voters afraid of losing work to foreign competitors. "They take our markets and take our jobs," Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter said of China when he confronted Obama at a public meeting last month. Specter, who is in a tough primary race in the Rust Belt state of Pennsylvania, said Chinese subsidies and what he called dumping are "a form of international banditry." China bristles at U.S. complaints. Wang Baodong, spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, said his country's currency policies "are above blame." The problem is the recent criticism of internet giant Google of the Chinese government's efforts to violate human rights (freedom to speech), a 3rd house issue. Google has refused to continue to provide adjustments to its software enabling the government to curb free speech on the internet. Now another US software company, , has entered the controversy and taken sides with Google. The controversy is potentially undermining China's status in the world, a 2nd house indication. criticised by Alibaba for 'reckless' China stance 16:52 GMT, Saturday, 16 January 2010 's partner in China has called the US internet giant "reckless" for supporting Google in its stand-off with Beijing over alleged cyber-attacks. said it was "aligned" with Google's position that the violation of internet privacy was deeply disturbing and something that had to be opposed. But an Alibaba Group spokesman said on Saturday it did not "share this view". Beijing has tried to play down Google's threat to pull out of China because of attacks by hackers and censorship. It is very interesting that US companies in the communications business, ruled by Mercury and the 3rd house, are actually involved in promoting freedom of speech, another 3rd house indication, in a major foreign country. Another difficult problem facing China is the possible over-expansion of the economy, which threatens to generate inflation and may have produced an asset bubble. Chinese banks must now keep more money back in reserves, the first such increase since June 2008, thereby taking cash out of the economy. An asset bubble that bursts can crash the economy and destroy untold wealth. In the propsed late Capricorn rising chart, Saturn as 2nd lord is badly placed and weak in the 12th house, which rules losses. Currently, Saturn is closely afflicted by the nodal station at 27° Sagittarius/Gemini, which would be expected to bring signficant problems to its indications. One question is if the present problems are conistent with the chart and if they are of the magnitude expected. The answer to the first question is yes. The problems are certainly consistent with the indications seen. The second question is more open to debate. There is a question if we would expect to see greater such problems or an outright setback to the status and wealth of the country, relations with neigboring countries, communal harmoy or structures, etc. In this regard, we may also note the influence of the faster moving planets. Transit 8th lord Sun and transit 11th lord Venus have recently moved out of the 12th house, reducing the strain related to their indications. However, as 10th lord Mercury is still in the 12th house, and it is the dispositor of transit Saturn, we can note that it will become conjunct the nodal axis in early February. Perhaps the problems for the government associated with such issues would become greater at that time, as Mercury is a general indicator of IT and communication issues. Other such nodal and 12th house problems could also crop up linked to the indications of Saturn and 2nd house while the nodes are closely conjunct natal Saturn.
