It seems things are heating up inside of Iran and in its foreign relations. The US led trade embargo on Iran seems to be having an effect, with the Iranian leadership turning increasingly hostile in its communication to the world. This may also be explained by indications that the US is working on a plan for a military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. Today, there are reports it is installing a missile shield in key allied nations in the Mid East. Some argue this is being done to contain a possible Iranian response to such a strike, in view of Iran's increasingly capable missile technology. Some days ago, the top clerical leader invoked the coming end of the "Zionist regime in Israel", something mostly the President had been saying. The Israelis also report discovering a new Hizbolla plan to invade and take over border towns with a force of 5000 soldiers,

an effort possibly supported by Iran.

CNN is now reporting that the political opposition is calling for street protests on Feb. 11, the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The following news is also mentioned:

I attach the tentative chart for Iran and recall the prediction made for the coming months (see message below from Dec. 27, 2009).

The Rahu-Moon period is operating and the transits are somewhat difficult, with transit 6th lord Jupiter in the 8th house in applying aspect to natal 8th lord Saturn - becoming exact around Feb. 24. In this regard, we should recall that Saturn natally afflicts 1st lord Moon in the 11th house. Meanwhile, transit Rahu in the 6th house is in applying aspect to its natal placement in the 2nd house, while transit Ketu in the 12th house is in applying aspect to natal Ketu in the 8th house - becoming exact on March 27, albeit no longer stationary. On February 11, transit Moon will be in the 6th house passing into the aspects of natal Rahu and transit Rahu, when the energy of manipulation and discord will affect the sense of self of the country. We'll soon see what happens.

So, anything can happen in view of the present Jupiter-Saturn contact and the natal to transit nodal aspect, but I also recall what I mentioned in my post of Dec. 27:

"There is a very interesting aspect taking place next summer. It is the transit station of 8th lord Saturn at 3° 50' Virgo and 3rd house. From this point, 8th lord Saturn becomes closely opposite 10th lord Mars and 3rd lord Mercury in infancy in Pisces and 9th house. The duration of the aspect lasts from mid May to mid July. Of particular interest is the position on May 22, 2010 when transit 6th lord Jupiter will also have joined this combination and becomes exact in its opposition to transit stationary Saturn. It will also afflict these natal planets. Transit Jupiter will also be in mutual affliction with natal Jupiter, which also afflicts this placement in the 9th house. We can expect some difficulties in Iran at that time related to the speech or actions of the Iranians or its place in the community of nations. Typically, a contact between

the 6th and 8th lords can produce violent events.

We can watch the events next summer with an eye to further verify this chart."

The uncertain political situation in Iran has been of great interest to the global community for some years.

In the tentative chart for Iran, based on the proclamation of an Islamic Republic, the Rahu-Moon period is operating. In the chart, natal 8th lord Saturn at 14° Leo and 2nd house afflicts 1st lord Moon at 14° Taurus and 11th house. This suggest tension involving the identity of the country, perhaps linked to a desire for status. has earlier suggested this aspect does not allow the Iranian government to get away with whatever it is they desire. First and foremost is their wish to become a nuclear power. Second is their heavy hand in dealing with the freedom of expression and political dissent.

This weekend there have been street protests in Iran. Four people have allegedly been shot dead by the police. Rahu and 3rd lord Mercury are conjunct in transit for a whole week, with transit stationary Rahu in the 6th house also aspecting natal Rahu in the 2nd house. Both houses have to do with communal harmony. Moreover, transit Venus as 4th lord, along with transit 2nd lord Sun and 3rd lord Mercury are in the 6th house at the present time.
